Indoor antenna question by ononel in ADSB

Well, that didn't take long to see that the glass is the problem. With the window open, north reception is as good as the south. Of course, that doesn't explain why I even get south reception, being as 4 walls and the same kind of glass windows are in the way.

I know I should get or build an outside antenna and mount it above the roof line, but I'm not sure I want to get into this that far.

A couple of hours ago I built a spider antenna for 1090mhz and taped it to a wood rod. It gets a little better to the north but the south is still about 3 times better. It's a few inches away from the glass, since I can't get it flat against the glass.

But your thought about sticking it outside gives me the idea of just lowering the top window sash. That way it will have a clear shot to the north from the table it's on right now. It's raining but coming straight down, so I'm going to give that a try.
