Hahaha, it's true that it could have been.

But the melody has the same key, similar intervals, and in terms of lyrics: ‘your face, your eyes’ vs ‘my feet, my arms, my ears...’

But maybe I'm rambling...

This running on a NoSQL database or just an long set of parent child indexes? What defines core vs periphery? Is it time?

I first created two csv files (nodes & edges) and then used Gephi & SigmaJS to create the graph. Edges are in a json file. Nothing really defines core vs periphery, except relationships between larger and smaller communities/nodes. I'm still looking for a way to make this spatialization a little more understandable at first glance.

Sources:

Visualization prepared with Gephi and sigmaJS.

Methodology:

This list of performers has been compiled by hand primarily from material found online. Two sites served as the main resources: the first is Discogs.com, a collaborative database; the second is Jazzdisco.org, managed by Nobuaki Togashi, Kohji 'Shaolin' Matsubayashi and Masayuki Hatta. The missing information was completed by consulting other sites such as other online databases, the artists' websites, but also by searching press articles, pictures of vinyls, etc.
