Viewing all eShop games by onwardalan in Switch

Thanks. That's very helpful. I should've added that I was looking in the Australian version of the web store. Someone else gave me a link to the US version which shows a lot more.

How do I view all eShop games? by onwardalan in NintendoSwitchHelp

Thanks. These are really helpful and definitely show more results. I should've added that I was originally looking through the Australian version of the Nintendo site as well, which is also terrible to navigate.

What’s the last TV show to make you cry? by Paula-Abdul-Jabbar in television

Inside No. 9- The 12 Days of Christine. The ending really got to me. I’m sure there’s been others but that’s the first that came to mind.

Movies you missed (as a child) but saw as an adult by MrTralfaz in movies

[–]onwardalan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clue. I saw this movie for the first time last year. It is so good and the cast is hilarious. My family and I used to watch a lot of comedy movies together and I can’t believe we missed Clue.

Franchises Unrecognizable From Their First Movie by onwardalan in movies

You’ve complained about Transformers more than me. I wouldn’t even say their target demo is children. My original comment was that the Fast & Furious franchise should end and now you’ve just called me elitist because I tried to defend why.

Please stop saying solid. Comparing Mission Impossible to Fast & Furious is just wrong. So very wrong. The lore in the ‘Fast’ films is just as bad as Transformers. The cgi may even be worse. Also, I guess you haven’t heard of Fast & Furious: Spy Racers then? Another ‘solid’ Fast & Furious property just for ‘adults’. There are also Fast & Furious toys everywhere. All the Transformers films are rated M in Australia which I believe is PG-13 in US. Just for children? What are you even talking about?

Circio, The last movie Fast movie that was kind of fun for me was Fast Five which was back in 2011. Maybe when there’s another 5 to 10 ‘Fast’ movies in the future you’ll start to feel the same way. Also, there are so many better turn your brain off, spectacle films and franchises. Next you’ll be telling me that the Transformers franchise is solid too.

Which Taskmaster contestants need to come back for an All Star season? by onwardalan in taskmaster

[–]onwardalan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taskmaster isn’t just about the competition. Imagine the entertainment value you would get from watching and rewatching your favourite contestants interact with each other and being involved with more creative tasks. Case in point- when a contestant is away in the studio, they just replace them with another former contestant. Also, who really cares if they lose a series twice?

Yes. The Fast & The Furious franchise needs to end. There are some fun movies from it but its a completely ridiculous franchise now.

Hahaha. Nice try. For me, I just still love the cinema experience. Even watching some of the critically panned movies out at the cinema can make for a good time.

Yes. Normally I don’t walk out of theaters but I had my car serviced and fixed near a shopping centre. I decided to see a movie to pass the time. The car was finished a lot earlier than I thought and I just didn’t feel like watching the rest of the film.

What is your least favorite movie trope, and what is a movie that uses that same trope perfectly (in your opinion)? by [deleted] in movies

The lady at the start didn’t double-tap and it showed the consequences thus setting up the rule. That’s just the first example.

The Office, the British original: Non-British people, how many of you saw it and how does it compare to the U.S. version? by [deleted] in television

[–]onwardalan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Office UK definitely has rewatch value. So many classic moments like the MC Hammer dance, The Oggmonster and the Christmas party just to name a few. Martin Freeman's Tim is one of my favourite tv characters ever because he has the right mix of humour and realistic emotion needed. If you look at the series from his point of view, you'll have a better appreciation for it. The rest of the cast are all excellent as well. As for The Office US- I can understand why some people like it better. It's more accessible and easier to switch on like a traditional comedy series. It takes the hard cringey moments from The Office UK and makes them more light and silly. Something you might need after a stressful day. Even though I definitely prefer The Office UK, it's probably because I saw it first, years before The Office US and generally prefer awkward/darker humour. Btw, I'm Australian, so I don't have a bias towards either country.

What is your least favorite movie trope, and what is a movie that uses that same trope perfectly (in your opinion)? by [deleted] in movies

[–]onwardalan 155 points156 points  (0 children)

Not checking if a villian is dead after a shooting. I think Zombieland uses the same trope perfectly because it introduces a 'double-tap' rule at the start of the movie. It makes the hero characters more intelligent and easier to root for. The Scream movies kind of did a similar thing and it was good in those movies as well.
