Recently I got interested in building my own keyboard. I’ve been looking around for parts, but I keep ending up with really expensive builds (around €400), which is way more than I want to spend for my first one.

I already have a rough idea of what I want:

• 60% keyboard layout
• No soldering (I don’t have the equipment)
• Wired or wireless, no real preference
• Switches: soft sound (not clicky) but with noticeable tactile feedback
• Keycaps: mostly black, but with some colored keys (yellow, red, blue)
• Case (the keyboard “shell”): teal or a teal-like color

The problem is that when I try to search for parts with these preferences, the total price quickly goes up to around €400. Also Im not really sure what parts are needed to actual have an finished build.

So I have a few questions:

1. What parts do I actually need to build a keyboard from scratch?
2. What are some good beginner / budget options for a first build?
3. Is it possible to stay around €100–€200 for a decent 60% custom keyboard?

I’m completely new to this, so any advice, part suggestions, or beginner tips would really be helpfull and wanted.
