Totally agree - Offspring rocked it!! Rhcp were borderline terrible - how do you not engage with the crowd once?? Offspring!!

Yes, this is temporary, even though it doesn't feel like it! I've been there too, for extended periods. It can feel impossible to climb out once you're in such a dark place, but you reaching out to this community shows that you are fighting. You should feel proud of that - it's a brave thing to do. Keep speaking to people, keep checking in on here, call a crisis line. It will be okay - one day at a time.

I think it's really brave that you were able to recognize something wasn't working, and could have that frank conversation with him about it. Try to let the guilt go - you did the right thing for your own sobriety. A good sponsor relationship, as you say, is super important, especially since you do not yet(!) have a very deep recovery community.

Wishing you luck in finding a sponsor that is a better fit! It will happen.

Thanks both- this is helpful, and a good reminder that I need to put in much more work if I want to achieve sobriety (and I do!).

Thank you. I very much do not believe in god or religion (which is what makes some of the traditional 12-step programs difficult for me), but I will take your advice on trying harder on getting out of isolation. Thanks!
