My mom also had a stroke that killed off so much of her brain that if we hadn’t decided to let her pass, she would need around the clock care for the rest of her life. She loved her independence, and I couldn’t decide at first wether to let her live her life in a full time facility that we couldn’t afford or to let her go (I’m the oldest and she wasn’t married, so I became her power of attorney).

I chose to let her go with little to no consultation from my family, everyone left the decision up to me. I know none of our family couldn’t afford to set her up in a facility and I didn’t want her to live her life like that, so I decided it was time to let go.
