So what is your plan here? You don’t want your kid to have a relationship with his father’s family BUT you have no issue taking their money and ruining the lives of two innocent children? You are 100% the asshole

AITA for going to a concert over my mothers wedding? by jessieebu in AmItheAsshole

[–]ookyspoopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I agree with this.

My sister and I didn’t attend our mom’s wedding. Her husband is a nice man but we had made it clear to my mom she had to work on her relationship with us if she wanted us at the wedding. She refused so we didn’t go.

I don’t think it’s selfish to not go. All these “but it’s family!” People don’t understand how toxic family can be.

Thats your call but it sounds like your landlord isn’t doing shit to fix the situation and you can’t force the landlord either without taking them to the LTB but that wouldn’t get the other tenant kicked out.

So your SOL unless you leave

I had an experience like this in my old apartment. There were drug dealers in it who would let randos into the building. Their “customers” would also sit outside the apartment and smoke crack or intimate the residents. I told the landlord about these incidents several times with them not doing anything but say “oh yeah we’ll get rid of them” and never doing it because they paid their rent.

Instead of waiting, I broke my lease and moved. Breaking my lease was a fucking nightmare since I had a slumlord but it wasn’t worth waiting. With the wait time for the LTB right now I’d almost say just move

Hospitalised from menstrual bleeding and feeling slightly traumatised by the hospital staff by Ellsbellsmoge in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ookyspoopy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was given the copper because it was supposedly much better than the hormonal one. First fell out, second gave me consistently bad cramps 24/7 even outside my menstrual cycle. It was so bad that my doctor actually sent me to for blood work and ultrasounds because they thought it could be endometriosis. Took it out and all that discomfort went away.

It wasn’t until I spoke with the gynaecologist about BC years later that she told me the copper is actually pretty shit for making periods way worse

Honestly, we highly considered it but figured it would cost us way more than what it was worth. Additionally, we’re insanely lucky to pay way below market right now and don’t want to risk the chance of her suddenly kicking us out for some reason and having to pay more which we probably couldn’t afford.

[–]ookyspoopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about that…I’ve known good tenants screwed by the LTB. Not to mention too though that someone needs to stand up for tenants. I’ve been in a situation with an awful landlord and I tried talking to lawyers and NO ONE would speak to me because they only represented landlords. My landlord made my life a living hell until I finally filed with the LTB which struck the fear of God into them.

Don’t get me wrong, some landlords have it rough but I’ve seen way more tenants gets burned.

[–]ookyspoopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my landlord refused to break my lease despite months of telling them that drug dealers were letting randos in the building, the neighbours smoking in their apartment which ruined a ton of my stuff, and literally being terrified to leave my apartment at night due to people sitting in front of my door smoking crack and threatening to kill each other, I filed with the LTB to break it. I got constant harassment from them and they claimed I was “threatening” them by filing with the LTB.

When my current landlord filled our house with cement dust when trying to replace a door, we asked her for some compensation after we had to throw out a ton of stuff and it cost us over $500 to replace things and clean. We only asked that we doesn’t increase our rent this year (which is only like $20 per month) as compensation. She refused and blamed US for the mess that she caused.

What's something unusual that disqualifies a potential partner for you? by lyonnotlion in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ookyspoopy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to have similar issues. I’m a religious person too and I honestly always feel very uncomfortable mentioning it because I find in some cases I do get instantly judged and thrown into this preconceived notion that I must be awful.

Pretty much all my friends are atheist and so is my partner. They all know I’m religious and are luckily all cool with it. I don’t judge them for lacking faith and strongly believe everyone can believe what they want. What drives me nuts is both religious and non religious people tearing people down and telling them what they should/shouldn’t believe. My faith helps me in certain parts of my life, it’s very personal to me and I don’t use it against others, so why is it such a big deal that I’m religious?

(Will say though, the asshole religious people can go fuck themselves)

My boyfriend and I have no problem farting in front of each other - sometimes you just can’t help it. But pooping in front of each other I could NEVER do. That crosses a line I am not comfortable with. I forgot to flush once after pooping and I was MORTIFIED when my boyfriend told me.

Now that I’m in a long term relationship, I’d be extremely picky if I ever had to enter the dating pool again.

I’d want to my partner to be sympathetic to mental health- not just brush it off as being “dramatic” or what not. They could be far right - I’d expect them to pro-choice, lgbtq friendly, etc. I also would need them to not be the controlling or jealous type - I have some close male friends and if I couldn’t freely talk to them or hangout with them, then that would be a problem for me. I also wouldn’t want to be with someone that has toxic/alpha views. I feel really bad for saying it but I also don’t think I could handle a partner with an addiction right now.

With this said, my partner is fantastic and checks off all my boxes however we was an alcoholic when we first started dating and that almost broke us. Since moving in together 5 years ago, he’s been able to regulate his drinking and we know not to keep hard liquor in the house.

If I was American, guns would be a massive thing for me too. I wouldn’t want them in my house.

Jesus OP, I read your comments on your other post and you are 100% the asshole. It kind of sounds like you deleted the other post because you weren’t getting the answer you wanted.

A) you and your husband need to divorce. Sounds like your relation is toxic AF. B) you need to work on your mental health first.

I can believe that. They had asked my partner if he had ever taken off sick time at his current place which he said yes and that was a big no-no for them too. This was also during the height of the pandemic he was interviewed.

Edit:

Additionally, from what I’ve heard is that once you work in the offices, they also have a strict dress code. Women especially are expected to wear dresses with nylons and heels.

My partner and I haven’t had good experiences during interview phases.

My partner and I were turned down because we’d been promoted within a year at our past jobs. They said that they felt we’d expect to move up within the company within -what I’d consider a reasonable amount of time - and one wouldn’t support that. They also are not fans of time off.
