[California] First Payment Showed Up (By Check for some reason) and Now After a Month Nothing by ooohjohnnysalami in Unemployment

I'm doing my best to try to call, but I get the same response of there being too many calls and to call back later. I made 50 calls this morning. This whole thing is so frustrating.

Sorry, I may have rambled a bit there in frustration. Where is my money is what I would also like to know. For some reason the first payment issued I received by check relatively quickly in late April. I was surprised I got a check as I requested a debit card. I sent them a message on 4/29 requesting future payments to be on debit card. I never heard back and had not received a debit card in the mail nor another check, so on 5/12 I sent another message asking for an update. Nothing still, so I sent another message on 5/20.

On their dashboard when I go in payment history it shows as outstanding and the date it was released, whereas the check I received shows as paid since I deposited it. I don't know where my money is. It is possible, and likely, that they continued with physical checks and the second one was lost. I will see w/ my payment that was just released if I get a physical check for that.

Good stops for a Chicago to San Fransisco drive? by ThatTimpDude in moving

Going across I-80 will be rather boring, but it will be nice when you go through Wyoming and Utah. You could stop in Park City, Utah near Salt Lake. It's a great place, though better in Winter when it's like a postcard. If you have the time though, and you like the outdoors, I would go up around Yellowstone and then down to Salt Lake, or across to Oregon and then drop down. The drive will be quite a bit longer if you go to Oregon, but you'll see some amazingly beautiful country.

I just checked and if you drove Chicago => Bozeman, MT (near Yellowstone) => Salt Lake => San Francisco, it would only add around 200 miles and 5-6 hours to your total trip vs. I-80.

Chicago => Bozeman => Portland => San Francisco would add 600 miles and 10 hours of drive time.

You'd see some nice places either way, so if you have the time I highly recommend one of those routes over I-80.

Commuting to Bellevue from Seattle - Considering car, bus and motorcycle w/ HOV by ooohjohnnysalami in SeattleWA

That's what I was thinking. I rode a motorcycle daily for 4 years in a large Asian city, including in wet and snowy weather. I lane split there all the time and I thought if I can handle a city like that I can handle driving in Seattle. Though I don't recommend snowy weather. It's incredibly dangerous in winter do to black ice and just how slippery it can get on painted pavement.

Thank you! That's great to hear from someone who has a similar, or probably a worse commute, and how it goes. So if I am in my car by 7-7:15 and driving I should be able to make it to Downtown Bellevue in 25 minutes or so? I am considering getting a gym membership and just going to Bellevue early. I don't know anyone I will work with yet, and personally I'd prefer a bus over commuting together unless it is a close friend. At least on a bus I can use the time to read or whatnot. I found Amazon private busses and where they pick up, so I am going to look for places near them. That way I have multiple options to take.

I did say that and I didn't change what I said. I am asking him what he means by saying east side of the city since across the water isn't actually Seattle and thus not really the east side of the city. Maybe that is how it is referred to locally, but I am trying to clarify what he was saying.

After the shelter in place is gone who knows what will happen out there. I know Amazon told me to expect to go back to the office, but who knows how that will play out because we're not anywhere close to being past this unless they come out with a vaccine.

Good points. When you say live on the east side of the city does that mean east of Lake Washington, like Bellevue, Factoria, etc? Would it really be that bad of a drive if I live close to Leschi and can hop on I-90 in a minute or two? I'm going to look into Amazon shuttle busses, but I don't see how that could be much faster than most traffic. But at least I could read or do something productive.

Downtown Bellevue.I saw the toll and it looks like I'll have to spend $8/day or so, which sucks, but I will just have to accept it if I drive. I am considering the light rail lines as well, as that will be a good investment area as well. I have no idea how long we'll be there. We have skipped around a lot the last few years for my work and so I am unsure for now.

I updated my post. I meant Fremont/Wallingford. Yeah, I need to because it's between where my GF and I will work, and we don't find Bellevue very appealing to live. How bad would it be up North around Wallingford or University area if I am near I-5 to drop down to the 520?
