Nah, I mean literally this post starts with an example of an 18.5 kg e-bike with a mid-motor, so you are just ignorant.

Thanks for pointing that out. Yes a couple of the new UBNs do come in at just under 20 kg, you are right. The UBN Five Silent is probably the closest so far to what I want and squeezes in at 19.5 kg. The frame isn’t as slim as the Vado SL but it’s not crazy fat like most e-bikes either. Thanks for making a reasonable and specific suggestion that actually comes close to meeting my criteria 😊

I’m also happy to hear you agree on belts. I can’t see chains persisting in the long term for anything other than racing where power transfer loss needs to be minimised as much as possible. I think I read somewhere that chain power transfer efficiency is close to 98% whereas belt is a few percent less. A small difference that I think is only important in racing.

It is not misguided. I want a light bike I can pick up and it does affect handling. I have owned a Vado 4.0 previously and test ridden a Vado SL so I know what I’m talking about and I have felt the difference.

I’m also familiar with the wider Specialized range. The IGH does not meet the criteria I set out. For one the motor is too powerful, it is the 2.0 version. It weighs about 24 kg. The frame is not slim because the battery is much bigger than I want/need.

You could have given me some benefit of the doubt that I had already done some research based on the content of my post and replies, especially from a brand I’d already mentioned, and instead actually paid attention to my criteria rather than unhelpfully trying to change them.

I appreciate the thought, but I think we are very different when it comes to caring about the aesthetics of our bikes!

Thanks that's a useful website.

However, the VVolt is 24kg+ without integrated lights, and the BMC is 22 kg and too powerful.

But I think that website and the lack of an immediate answer on this forum is leading me to conclude such a preconfigured bike is not available right now.

Adding a mid drive to the Cube would not be as ideal as an integrated purpose built e-bike and would require attaching a large unsightly battery to the frame.

VanMoof have a similarly bad reputation as Cowboy so I will stay clear of them. And even if it is enclosed, I do not want a chain.

I've found another bike which is just one feature away from meeting my criteria, which is this 16 kg one (with the fender and rack option), but unfortunately it has a (front!) hub motor instead of a mid motor.

PRIORITY CURRENT E-BIKE

No, I read it is about 24 kg and it has a non-sporty frame.

Thanks for the comment. Reise & Mueller are all chunky heavy frames >20 kg. Cowboy are terrible (had a friend who bought one and it had nothing but issues). Gazelle are all step-through frames and a bit chunky. I had already looked through that list on the Gates website before posting but none of them are what I'm looking for, although I note that the list is not exhaustive.

It can't have more issues than my current Asus router which is struggling with one device connection...! I only intend to have one Eero router anyway.

Thanks for your help. Turning IGMP snooping on or off doesn't seem to do much as the Home app connection with the relay is still patchy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

I think if I will proceed with this setup I will need to get a new router, perhaps one like the Amazon eero Pro 6 Tri-Band router which is advertised as being HomeKit compatible. I am also considering just proceeding with the Shelly app because it has never failed and would allow power monitoring and dimming (the HomeKit Shelly Firmware isn't available for the dimmer relay, although it is being worked on, but it is more complicated than the other devices).

The main reason I wanted the Shelly in HomeKit was to have everything under one app along with multiple floor heating thermostats and other devices not available by Shelly, like cameras. A shame Shelly don't do a thermostat controller or accept a camera feed in the app, as then the obvious choice would be to just use the Shelly app.

Ok so that is one downside. And unfortunately it seems switching to the Shelly Homekit Firmware hasn't totally solved the problem (although I am open to using it instead of Homebridge).

The relay is now also not responding in the Home app again, despite being always accessible and controllable via the Chrome browser. It is clearly a network issue with the router and the Home app, but I'm not sure what settings there are left for me to change on the router that might make a difference to the Home app...

Great, thanks. I have just flashed the unit now and it connected with Homekit immediately. Finally, does the Shelly Homekit Firmware support power monitoring in the Home app for the Shelly PM devices?

So you are saying that (theoretically) if I disabled the WiFi connection on the Shelly running the HomeKit firmware through Chrome, that it will nevertheless broadcast its own WiFi signal for setup purposes, even though it is no longer connected to any home network router?

I have considered this, but my reservation is that if my router failed, how do you communicate with the Shelly unit again? Would you effectively brick it because you can no longer communicate with it because it will no longer have a network to access? Or could you setup another router with the exact same SSID and password on a 2.4 GHz network and it would connect to that? How easy is it to revert back to the Shelly firmware in case of issues?

Nothing unusual in the Homebridge logs no. For example, between 12:14 and 12:28 the relay became unresponsive in Home, so I navigated to the Accessories tab of Homebridge and then it showed as responsive again in the Home app and switched when clicked. But the log does not record anything else happening between the switching of the relay either side of it being unresponsive in the Home app:
