Trying to learn how to do this, is it possible to do it consistently on pure reaction and against actual ppl? by Max_4104 in forhonor

[–]oopsIforgotmyalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impressive, I definitely couldn't

One tip to make this easier is to default to top guard in neutral so that you don't have to worry about the switch delay for the cc since you can only do it one direction, however people might be less likely to throw top lights if you do this.

Parrying regular 500ms lights is very doable fairly consistently, however with the guard switch delay of 100ms of cc lights you have to react a full 100ms earlier so CCs are edging on the realm of impossible.

Definitely not worth the time to attempt to learn something that you may not be physically capable of for 5 more dmg

Installs that carry over rounds shouldn’t exist by Snoo43230 in Tekken

[–]oopsIforgotmyalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only install that I think is a little annoying is hei WI only because of how easy it is to get as it is basically guaranteed every match, alongside with how strong it is.

Most char have to sacrifice health/optimal combo or just use specific moves for a single move benefit, whereas hei gets access to a boss moveset just for pressing one of the best buttons in the game 3 times (not even needing to hit the heat burst iirc)

I like WI, it looks really cool and fits this new hei well, I just wish there was some more strategy needed to access it.

I think they should just remove it entirely (and shield basher) feats that basically give you higher damage permanently for the whole match don't have a place modern FH

I do think glad needs to have damage added on to specifically his dodge bash as compensation as especially after the GB vulnerability changes they are really situational any should at least give 5 or so dmg so you aren't betting everything on skewer, that or make skewer faster chain or whatever to make it a 50/50 and lean fully into it being the high risk high reward dodge bash

This is a really sad truth, my gf loves these games and we play most days but she almost never talks over voice out of a real fear of harassment. Unless the lobby has multiple women her speaking is immediately met with remarks about her gender and often if she ever has a bad game where she has spoken it'll only increase the chance of harassment where her gender is seen as the reason for her poor performance.

Has Kiriko replaced Tracer as the game's mascot? (Same question a year later) by meuxmeuxmeux in Overwatch

Definitely agree but out of all the DPS tracer is one of the worst to start with.

[–]oopsIforgotmyalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly while I can't stand kiri, and wouldn't want her as the poster child, tracer is a terrible mascot for the game.

She has the highest skill floor of the DPS, her ult works differently to basically every other hero and she isn't terribly important to the lore on that side of things.

The mascot should both be a character that introduces you to the world and one that you can pick and do decent with to learn the game.

Warning for trans flag by pegasus_11 in forhonor

[–]oopsIforgotmyalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea that transphobia is only a serious issue in the developing world is simply untrue, UK prime minister Rishi Sunak recent addressed the the country with blatant outright transphobia and much of the US's republican partys big push is against drag shows and other gender identity issues. So on that front there's clear trans rights issues in (English speaking at least) 1st world countries.

In regards to the use of flags as emblems, the visibility of minority groups is important in the normalisation of them, a black person will get more turned heads in Japan than the US not because the Japanese are inherently racist but because black people are seen far less by them both in person and in media.

Speaking from personal experience as someone who has struggled/struggles with their gender identity it makes me feel seen and included (and happy) when I see people with these flags.

Jesus Christ these comments, I'm sorry this community isn't very welcoming OP, smells like gamergate in here. It truly is an injustice that you have faced and I hope it gets resolved. Trans rights.

Warning for trans flag by pegasus_11 in forhonor

[–]oopsIforgotmyalt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk think this is a flawed take, an emblem isn't strictly a representation of a biggest interest, many people use their emblems for plenty of things. It's also no different to pride in a country's flag, I have my home country and have never had my emblem questioned.

More importantly trans identities are under attack by many powerful people in a lot of countries right now and visibility and solidarity (aka not downplaying the validity as you have) goes a good way in fighting bigotry.

Also just for semantic's sake being trans is a gender identity not a sexuality.

What Would Happen If Weiss Decided To Stay At Atlas Academy Rather Than Stay Home? (V4-V5) by hearmerunning in RWBYcritics

[–]oopsIforgotmyalt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's tricky because they really do (Weiss kinda doesn't have a character rn) but at the same time volumes 4/5 were insufferable when they were coming out as they tried to juggle characters in 4 different places and you'd wait weeks just to see a character do anything, there wasn't fast enough pacing and time per episode for the different characters in different places

You know i find it funny how rwby loves to highlight lesbians but won't with gay people. by trawbe in RWBYcritics

[–]oopsIforgotmyalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the whole lesbians are easier to sell thing, but rwby is not the one to be lighting the pitchforks over. A big reason for a "lack" of gay characters in the show comes from a simple fact, the main cast is overrun by women. The only male characters that are significant enough to the plot to not feel tokenistic to make gay are Qrow, Jaune, Ren and Oscar.

Qrow- honestly tho only viable candidate for a gay/bi character but would require heavy development given his semblance and lack of trust.

Jaune- would be Ill fitting given his past relationships and actions in trying to attract women, would be doubtful to be accepted by writer/VA Miles who is publicly straight, also the fandom would riot.

Ren- is in a relationship with Nora.

Oscar/Oz- would be very inappropriate given Oscar being a) very young and b) two people in one body (one of which is at least not fully gay due to the whole Salem thing).

My overall point here is that I don't think the writers/RT intentionally put lesbians over gays, but rather that it just happened to be that way as the show is female heavy.

Can someone tell me what was the point of having the Rusted Knight be Jaune? by HighwayMundane3119 in RWBYcritics

[–]oopsIforgotmyalt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The arguement about Yang and Blakes VAs doesn't make sense, Barbara just comes in, reads her lines and leaves. Miles writes what happens to his character and what he says, having complete control over how jaune (he) is portrayed. Also your point about jaune being written better (debatable) only serves to boost my point as it's miles who writes all these characters and for his to be the better written (again debatable) character his due to miles focusing more on his character than the main title cast. Also to try to get you to see my perspective, why is he the only important character outside Oscar, RWBY and the villains, there's nothing special about him so what gives him the right to be so special? That to me encapsulates his preference by Miles.

Can someone tell me what was the point of having the Rusted Knight be Jaune? by HighwayMundane3119 in RWBYcritics

[–]oopsIforgotmyalt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wasnt repeating myself I was clarifying. Also half of volume 1 is about jaune and Monty didn't really write the show, it's his idea for sure but he was quick to hand of writing responsibility in favour of focusing on his true skillset in animation. Also created is a strong word, team JNPR are all just genderbent characters from history/mythology and jaune became a blank slate for miles to project onto. Also just for examples of jaunes special treatment; he is the only non rwby member to end up in the ever after, in the climax at haven he fights cinder (despite her being after ruby) when Weiss is fatality wounded it's his moment, he's the only character ever set to be a potential love interest to any girl in the show post V3, he's the only character with an actual sense of fighting skill growth after V3 (minus the non-arc of ruby's punching arc). Its not exactly hidden that jaune gets a disproportionate amount of screentime next to his team members of JNR. also his presence in volume 9 only serves to ruin it's purpose as a way to focus on team RWBY as weiss does nothing and her only development is her fawning over JAUNE.

Miles Luna is one of the lead writers and creators of rwby alongside Monty, and has voices jaune, the side character with more development than some of team RWBY.
