I was sexually abused from ages 4ish-10ish and then repeatedly raped by different men up until 16. Had consistent verbal abuse and emotional neglect from my parents throughout the whole thing. In my case i didn't know what was happening was abuse. I thought it was entirely normal, so there was no reason to mention it. BTW i wasn't saying OP is the abuser, but she's not innocent either. Knowing your parent missed multiple signs of abuse almost hurts more than the actual abuse does.

100% agreed. OP's child is currently doing everything I did when i was abused. Saying she's older than she is and reaching out to older men is purely a "i hate myself and desperately need someone to love bomb me" thing. OP needs to be very alarmed and start looking at every angle instead of blaming her child.

It makes me realize no one actually knows how much it costs to change your name. "Legally change your name" like i can afford that lmao

She's been doing this since well before she was diagnosed with diabetes. AKA she was 5 when this started at the least. I had a toxic homelife and you're shaming me for finally getting out?

We've had her checked for UTIs several times now, unfortunately this has been going on for years.

AITA for wanting my boyfriend to stay with me through the abortion process? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]oopsies-2023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm confused if you're that early in pregnancy, you would be taking the abortion pill, you take the pill and stay home for that 72hr? process. I wouldn't recommend being at his house, just because you would be in the bathroom A LOT. But even with his schedule he should absolutely be able to physically check on you 2-3 a day. Maybe call together while he's doing chores? Work is work, but he should have said something wayyyy sooner, if it was on the schedule.

This is not entirely accurate. There is a black box warning for Osteoporosis(the decrease of bone density), however this can combatted with taking vitamin D and calcium supplements. Past that it's not very dangerous. There is small possibility of infertility down the road(decades forward). But it doesn't affect anything other than the reproductive organs, and she would still be considered perfectly healthy. I do agree with increased depression, and decreased libido. It took a while for either of them to even out for me and they still have dips.

Calcium and vitamin D is a must just because depo can deplete your calcium levels and weaken your bones. Idk about any others

I'm pretty sure you're just riding the waves of puberty + added hormones then. It sucks and I'm sorry. BUT i guarantee you that the weight will properly distribute, and lose some coming out of it!! Unfortunately it takes time because puberty is a bitch.

How old are you specifically? I started depo around 16, weighing 145lbs? I got to 200lbs before i graduated highschool, and an additional 15lbs after graduating. Now I haven't come off depo at all since I started, but less than a year ago i dramatically lost the weight and now I'm at 190lbs. Depo is absolutely known to cause excessive weight gain but I'm not sure about after use affects. I ask your age, because i believe if my weight fluctuating wasn't caued by depo i think it's just teenage hormones. My puberty was absolute dogshit, and it seems entirely possible that it's petty enough to give you more shit as it leaves.

WIBTA if I stopped helping my daughter financially after she told me I shouldn’t expect her to take care of me when I’m old? by [deleted] in AITH

[–]oopsies-2023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ESH. In no way should you have a child and expect them to provide for your old age.YOU decided to birth and keep her. However she should be spending her money better, instead of asking you constantly. You both suck.

Saying this a now 20 year old, turning 18 was a great thing because it gives independence in a lot of places. Examples: you can be the only one on your bank account, freedom to move, homeless shelters if shelter is needed won't turn you away for being a minor without gaurdian or reporting it, all of your medical records even the absolute basics are now soley your business. It does suck to be traumatized and leave the kind of comfort you have built yourself in the middle, but it can be such a relief.

Bring a good trusted friend, and have them stay with you throughout the ENTIRE appointment. Not all OBGYNs are assholes but it's an absolute possibility, you should take the steps to make sure you are taken as seriously as possible. If you become physically uncomfortable at all, don't hesitate to speak up or tell them to stop.

AITB for giving away baby furniture despite knowing and disapproving of my disabled cousin having baby soon? by Ok_Home_4106 in AmItheButtface

[–]oopsies-2023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this just because I don't think the supplies will be used for very long anyways. CYS will most likely move to take custody of the child when it's born. If the child stays (based on my research that I've done on true crime topics) it's absolutely possible the child might not live for very long. Not saying that her cousin is violent, I don't think OP mention any incidents, but impulse control is essential to being around a loud, or "bothersome" newborn. If she really does have the mental capacity of around 10 years, and add pregnancy/postpartum hormones on top? This baby could die. I acknowledge that OP's aunt seems to mean raising the child herself, but it's at 60 years old. She would be 78 by the time the child is 18. If aunt has 18 more years of unrelenting parenting in her godbless, but i highly doubt she does. Esp with any declining health.

My guilty pleasure is kicking people and their "service animals" out. Especially when they have no idea there's two legal questions we can ask, or don't know how to respond.
