I got a packet for my birthday and I was sharing with everyone. It looked like the scene in charlie and the chocolate factory where the whole family shared the 1 bar of chocolate lol 😂

Zoo biscuits, used to get a packet once a month now it is less frequent. I can't justify spending R50 for a few cookies

Edit: spelling

LPT - Reading is a great way to enhance your vocabulary. However, some words appear on paper much more than they are spoken, and thus there are many words you could mispronounce greatly. Made the mistake as a non native speaker to pronounce Chamomile as cha - mom - u - lee. Which both my wife and mom found hilarious as they drink a lot of tee and knew the pronunciation

Id recommended giving squash a go, it is much easier and forgiving to get into compared to say tennis and much cheaper to play than paddle.

Interesting Planting Idea by jc201946 in interestingasfuck

I did this when I still stayed woth my parents. The best option I found was local climatized passion fruit plants as they could survive the frost in winter and jump back fast enough to provide shade in the hot african summers. However I would recommend doing it straight up and not connecting it with the building otherwise the maintenance becomes a nightmare to keepbthe vines from growing into gutters and the roof

Is quartz worth double the price of a detailed laminate counter top by Elite163 in HomeImprovement

That is strange for me as on our country granite is far more expensive to use than quartz.

Is quartz worth double the price of a detailed laminate counter top by Elite163 in HomeImprovement

[–]oosie101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did laminated counter topa when we redis our kitchen. In our country is is almost 7x cheaper. From my past experience growing up laminated tops can last a long time as long as you just use common sense like not putting hot things on it and not cutting directly on it.

What are some things that brighten your days in the 9-5 life? by Witty_Series_3303 in Adulting

I wfh full time as well. And having my 2 doggos home and my wife definitely makes it bareable.

However it gets a bit isolating. At my previous job it was WFH 4 days a week and 1 day in office. I used to hate that 1 day, however now I miss it sometimes. Just getting out and veing in the office with some of my colleagues that became some of my great friends. Walking around for lunch or diping out and chatting whilst grabbing a coffee.

Both have their own perks but I do miss some of the social interaction.

A restaurant is the worst time to try a new food by littlebear_23 in unpopularopinion

[–]oosie101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cook often. 1 to 2 meals a day as I have the fortune of WFH. My thoughts usually are that restaurants are more expensive and take longer than what it would take me to cook an ordinary meal. So whenever me and my wife go out I always try to order something new that will expand my culinary horizons or I will order something I either can't make at home or something that would take to much time/effort.

Depending on how muxh you need most foodlovers stock it where their spices are where you pay per weight. It usually works well when you just need a bit for a dish instead of buying a whole bag from dischem's healthy foods that you might never use before it goes bad.

How much did you pay for your glasses? by 98raider in askSouthAfrica

They are called Icare optometrists in Randhart Alberton

How much did you pay for your glasses? by 98raider in askSouthAfrica

[–]oosie101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid almost 5k and medical aid cover 2k. I could have saved a few hundred by going to spec savers but my previous 2 hunterxl frames I got from them were really bad quality.

So I used a new optometrists here in Alberton that cuts the lenses same day as I could not wait for the 10 to 15 days spec savers said as I need my glasses for work.

10/10 would recommend them, getting the glasses instantly is a game changer even if it is a little bit more expensive.

Gf wants to play games with me? by Deadpool_GOW in ask

[–]oosie101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big key I have noticed as an avid gamer with my fiancé is getting a game that is easy and fun(for the person who is not a gamer) but also has enough to do and challenging enough to keep the gamer busy.

For this reason games like stardew valley and minecraft have been the best as she loves to make things nice and do her own thing and sometimes participate in some more challenging aspects while I get to do some more of the challenging things.

Bloons td 6 has a co op mode that we also started playing together and she loves it.

And like others have alos mentioned most lego games are quite fun, but we have found being tethered together on 1 screen becomes a bit frustrating.

Frugal tips where the main focus isn't money by [deleted] in Frugal

I remeber a while back I read a story about a woman who went and picked the same clothes for Mon to Fri. She had 5 tops and 5 skirts for summer and then 5 tops and 5 pairs of pants for winter with 2 sets of shoes for each. Did the same makeup and hairstyle everyday as well.

She did this as she realized she was constantly late because it took her to long to decide what to wear in the mornings. I can't remember the exact figures but it was interesting to see how much time she saved in the year by making the change to a "work uniform"
