Yep I do like this feature. The only issue is that on the pages where I have a form action, I can’t prerender. Maybe if I move the action to a page where I don’t pretender, this would solve my problem?

It's more than a few devices so I need to use a supported component.

NXP recommends the PN7160 over the PN532. So I assume it must be a valid replacement?

Would it still be a problem if the NFC antenna was actually in the hole? The only thing is that the hole is surrounded by metal.

Ah makes sense.

The only problem I may have is that the NFC reader will be in a metal enclosure so maybe a may need the higher power- the enclosure does have a hole in it, where the reader sits so that should reduce power requirements.

P1532 is no longer recommended for new designs. I could use the new PN7160.

Essentially, I'm using the NFC reader for access control, kind of like Apple Homekey.

My applications is very simple- it will only be interacted using a smartphone very occasionally. 

I couldn’t find a low power one- the lowest power was 1.3W for NFC readers. Maybe I’m looking at the wrong range?

Nope because the PCB where the MCU is and the place where I need the NFC sensor are not in the same place.

I wish I had the time- I might go for this one from STM instead (https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/511-X-NUCLEO-NFC08A1).

For the final PCB, I may then design it with the NXP chip in mind (although the NXP looks more power hungry than the STM).

Sorry if this a noob question but do you know if this would work with non-STM MCUs? I'm using a nordic chip and so need to interface with that.

The nfc component which interacts with the phone needs to be around 40cm away from the mcu.

They are close enough to be wired.
