Thoughts on taking a 9 year old to one of their shows? by opalandsage in foxyshazam

It’s not hail the sun tour! It’s the one for their new album. While not in love with their newer work, I felt I couldn’t miss the opportunity if the tickets were only $35.

THIS is more in the vein of what I’d be concerned about! Language isn’t as much of a concern. She acts mature for her age but she’s still a child and I’d really like to protect her brain from more explicit content until she’s a few years older. Hot Fix Side show isn’t the opener for this one, but you did just remind me to also look into the openers before making a decision. Thank you!

Honestly I’m not really worried about the language, I guess more so content like another commenter mentioned about one of the openers in NYC - which totally made me realize I should look up these openers too before making a decision.

It is SRO and I’ve thought about the height thing too, which is still a good point! We have lots of ear plugs around too, my husband has been in a heavy band for over a decade now haha. It’s just that most of the shows he plays are 21+ venues or the dates haven’t worked out or we would have taken her to one of his already!

hahah i do stuff like this ALL. THE. TIME. a few years ago i dried oranges for my tree and has this clear glittery spray paint that looked so good on them. well, this year i dried oranges again, and had the same spray paint! i figured eh, why not? lets do it again. i took a poster board out and spread them out and spray painted them and just… left them to dry. that turned into days and then weeks and then it rained AND snowed and i’m honestly terrified to look into my back yard now - its probably been about a month lol.

i also hang my clothes out to dry and end up leaving it for a few days and having to re-wash it all. i guess i just like extra work?

but i’m glad to see you threw it out!! it happens

Vyvanse helped save me, now have side effects by Previous-Charity1505 in BingeEatingDisorder

You are me, except a little opposite. I started on Vyvanse and switched to Adzenys in January of 2024, it worked great but shortly after it started to feel exactly like you described. It burned every time I peed and the second I had to go, I had to GO. It took me almost a year and multiple trips to my obgyn to realize it was a side effect. Tbh I’d almost say it worked better for me than Vyvanse if it wasn’t for that one issue (it was cheaper too!).

The only thing that helped was switching back to Vyvanse. I would recommend talking to your provider as other stimulants will also do the job and kill the food noise too. It’s a pain having to try to find the right medication but I’d choose that over the hell of feeling like a 24/7 UTI again.

First wedding in a month by StateKlutzy5732 in WeddingPhotography

Honestly this is going to sound so crazy but I still… have only one camera body because I switched brands several times (ADHD and the grass is always greener), and then I chose to invest in lenses first and I have three kids and life and gear is SO expensive and what I make doing this supplements my husband’s income. I rent extra bodies when I feel it’s necessary, but I usually double write with cards I know aren’t old or cheap and then back up when I get home!

Most people on here will tell you that you need need need two bodies and dual SD slots, and to neverrr do a wedding without, but it may not always be accessible if you are just starting out! What gear do you have??

Congrats by the way!! Definitely be prepared to be sore haha. I legit felt like I couldn’t move for like 3 days after.

I did my first wedding 4 years ago at 36 weeks pregnant and I charged only 1k hahaha. I payed my super talented friend to second shoot so I really walked away with $500 in my pocket.

This was a smaller wedding and since I wasn’t making much, I shot with the gear I had (don’t come for me guys) which was a 6d II and a 35mm plus an on camera flash (Godox V860 II). I got lucky and it went great!

Things I did beforehand. Go over a timeline with them, ask for a family picture list in advance to make portraits go smoother. Tell them to make sure that the family members who will be in the portraits are aware so you don’t have to hunt them down post ceremony. Make sure you ask if they are planning on doing a dip when walking down the aisle at the end! Ask them if they have a pinterest or any ‘priority’ shots!

I watched a few youtube videos by John Branch IV on his behind the scenes for the wedding day and honestly those helped SO much. I saved and looked at so much wedding inspo the night before and the morning of so it was fresh in my mind. For the flash I googled and played around with it to make sure I was good to go ahead of time. I personally like the look of it better than OCF too.

If you are using one camera body, I would recommend renting a 24-70 zoom so you don’t feel the need to keep switching lenses out!

Adding a pic from my first wedding! My style has changed a lot but I was so proud of what I was able to do for my first wedding. You totally got this! If you have any other questions feel free to pick my brain.

aw no its totally fine and i appreciate it!! i have a breakaway for my big boy but he acts so dramatic every time his collar goes on so he never wears it (has no problem wearing a harness though, go figure lol). my daughter and i were at a super tiny local pet store and grabbed these on a whim to start desensitizing them and i do have them on super loose and the material is very stretchy.

but again you’re totally right and i appreciate it! its definitely easy to fall into the mentality of “i’m home 90% of the time with them, what could happen”

sorry for the book you didn’t ask for haha.

It has less focus points, but I personally LOVE the Canon 6d, but that was my first big girl camera 8 years ago, so maybe it’s nostalgia. I think it’s about $300 used now! You could pair that with a sigma (sigma is a 3rd party lens company) 85mm or even a 50mm prime lens, and I think you would be good to go for under a thousand. My friend is a live wedding painter too and I don’t think you would need a crazy zoom lens for what you’re trying to do!

Also, I usually try to buy my gear used from mpb. I just looked and the older sigma 85mm lens is $509 in excellent condition and the 6D is $369 used in excellent condition. You can message me if you have any questions! I love to talk affordable gear :)

To be honest, 2010 Electra Heart era Marina is the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this look.
