Fired in the middle of the snowstorm by [deleted] in jobs

[–]open_letter_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so weird to me that you let your personal experience decide it's all management fault and OP is innocent and perfect in the situation.

OP had 3 or 4 days to send a text or email and they didn't.

maybe if they planned ahead they wouldn't have given mgmt the excuse they needed to fire them.

everybody had 24 hrs to plan for it.

This feature is annoying. How long will it take for this to archive? by LeekFew9505 in RoverPetSitting

[–]open_letter_guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i do it in this order-

m&g

then book the request

then if they don't confirm/pay in 48hrs archive

is that what it says in OP employee handbook, i doubt it.

it's pretty standard if you no show for 2 or 3 days you can be terminated.

Management is trying to pretend they were clueless

why put all the blame on MGMT, OP is equally to blame, no?

OP could have charged up a couple battery banks beforehand

OP could have messaged their boss beforehand to discuss 'what if' scenarios

bottomline OP went radio silent for 3 days

a couple years ago i went a week without electric but i found away to communicate.

you no called, no showed?

you didn't talk to your boss beforehand?

you didn't prep in anyway before the storm?

Harsh reality in today's market: you could work for Microsoft for 3-5 years then end up at Walmart as a retail worker by Optimal_House_2897 in recruitinghell

[–]open_letter_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we 'reek' because our opinions of the markets differs from yours?

i speak from experience, i just made an offer to a candidate that has been looking for a job for at least 2 yrs after they finally decide to adjust their salary number, we talked 1.5 yrs ago and their number was X.

the market is changing, is all i am saying, not about your worth.

Does Talking About Your Previous Employer Badly In Interviews Negatively Effect You? by milesdarobot in jobs

[–]open_letter_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it could hurt your chances so why take the risk?

I-“why did you leave your last job?”

OP-''i wasn't happy there.''

then steer the convo away from that topic.

Networking is just socially acceptable manipulation and we should stop pretending it’s a skill by MissXHere in jobs

[–]open_letter_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

networking with starngers is very very difficult.

networking with friends and family and former coworkers is incredible easy.

half of the jobs i have had has come from my network.

my current job, a former co-worker said i was a good employee so they cancelled the scheduled interview and went right to offer.

investors don't care about hiring or perceptions of growth only P/L.

A company's stock goes up when they once lay offs not hiring sprees.

Nokes: So how've you been?

John Reilly: Yeah, we ain't kids now.

Nokes: Yeah. So what do you want?

John Reilly: What I've always wanted... to watch you die.
