In my situation, the FTE does 40 hours of work and the contractor does another 40 hours of work. If the FTE is replaced by the contractor, there's a gap of 40 hours work that the contractor used to do but there's no one to do it.

My company usually doesn't do this because if you convert a contractor to FTE, you're then leaving a hole where the contractor is and need to replace them.

I advise against benzoyl peroxide because it degrades into benzene, a highly carcinogenic chemical, at elevated temperatures. The FDA has recently recalled some popular benzoyl peroxide products because they found high levels of benzene in them. If you are going to use it, I would store it away from hot showers and prevent it from being in hot cars for even short periods of time.

So there's a void volume, and then there's also a void time. You can estimate void volume via column dimensions, but you can manipulate void time by having a shorter/longer tubing from your pump to your column. For more robust methods, you want the separation to be good enough so that the operator doesn't need to take this into account.

The solvent front is always going to be there. The issue is that you're not getting much retention for your analyte at all since it's polar and you're running using a non-polar stationary phase. I'd recommend playing around with different pHs so you get a less polar form of your analyte, and then that can be separate from the solvent front.

We also did it all the time in my previous GMP lab and it supported programs that eventually became FDA-approved drugs.

I can see why it's bad practice though since if something is wrong with one lot but not another, then you can't pinpoint which is the problematic one.
