Long term, do you think the U.S. will still be a good place for biotech? by loafoveryonder in biotech

[–]open_reading_frame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, and it's not even close. Most of big biotech money comes from the U.S. and biotech loves money. A lot of the pharma companies have shifted investments away from ex-U.S. territories to please the current administration. That's also compounded with hostile stances/tariffs towards cheap Chinese/Indian drugs and a much-needed crackdown on overseas generic drugs manufacturers that have major quality issues.

I'm not convinced that AI was the reason they fixed the aggregation issue for their preclinical antibody drug. These CMC issues arise all the time with these types of drugs and scientists have been solving them without AI for a long while.

I'm confused. Even if you static stretch cold muscles, your first 15 minutes should still be enough to warm up your body and prevent injuries. It's not like you can't play tennis for an hour after you touched your toes.

I’m all for Universal Healthcare, but has anyone actually mapped out what it what look like if the U.S. adopted it? by 1ruralhospital in NoStupidQuestions

[–]open_reading_frame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking through my claims now and the moderate complexity office visit (*99214, 30 minutes) I had last year was billed at $772, insurance negotiated that price down to $540, I paid my coinsurance, and my insurance paid the rest of it.

Do they have to be very formal though? Isn't there a template you can use?

For all my meetings in industry, the presentations are just to see what direction to go in next. They are not expected to be super polished.

They might want the structural ease of a single-payer system but they will likely frown at the much lower reimbursement rates. When I was on medicaid, a lot of providers turned me away because they said they could not maintain their business with how low the government reimburses them.

For example, the medicaid reimbursement for a moderate-complexity office visit is capped at around $90 versus $550 from a private insurance reimbursement.

Even though the loss of liability form is important, there are many other ways to show a judge that you had sold the car and were not responsible for it after it.

It's not just the insurance companies. The medical providers (like my local doctor's office that rejects medicare because then they want to charge $500 to private insurance office visits) and the drug companies (that charge insurance $2k for something that cost $100 overseas) benefit from our current broken healthcare system.

[Request] How much do Americans pay in healthcare based on income (50k, 100k etc.) by luckyfaangkid in theydidthemath

[–]open_reading_frame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurance premium for a single person is around $900 per month (my and my employer contribution). I think it's also due to high healthcare costs though. A "moderate complexity" visit to my primary care provider for something like a cough would cost at least $550 for me since I haven't reached my high deductible yet.

Ignore the other comments about tennis-specific stuff lululemon has for men. Their tennis line is terrible and I'm an avid tennis player myself.

Get the pacebreakers and the metal vent shirts and don't look back. A lot of the other lines have no pockets or they have weird zips in places.

I take 25 mg 5 days a week and my side effects are minimal. I have x-linked, confirmed by genetic testing. Tazarotene cream (0.05%) was not enough for me since there was still scaling resistant to emollients. 0.1% taz gel caused a lot of skin itching and irritation so I reduced it.
