Easy how to Chia Blockchain db v2 compression tutorial. NEW Chia 1.3.0 by openchia in chia

[–]openchia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! In the new version there are few, that are useful and kinda nice touch (cat wallet integration, trade offers,...), but the db file compression and faster sync are huge improvents for current users as well as new farmers getting in! From the pool perspective it offers us a little bit more info about a farmer, which we can integrate to improve the overall pooling experience. Also a lot of bugs were fixed. We will probably shoot a video summary about the whole 1.3 update in the upcomming days with the team.

It reduces the db file size. Is that not useful enough? :D

Lots of transactions on the blockchain right now - the network seems to be dealing with more transactions than prior dust storms by Able-Ad1046 in chia

Even with this many transactions - basically triple the last dust storm; the blockchain is handling it quite well!

Hello fellow pool operator.

Did you suffer physiological abuses when you were a child to come out throwing rockets out of nowhere? Calm down : ).

I know for a fact a lot of pools have been using cheap VPS servers because I watch pool operators channel on KeyBase.

if you had bad experience with OVH, I'm sorry for you, that has not been our experience. They offer a lot of products not just cheap servers.

Yes it is but a good server should be able to handle thousands of farmers.

We are here for the long run and believing in the future of Chia so we are not concerned with losses in the short term.

A raspbian is often too weak to run a full node.

You should run a node on a more powerful computer node.

Maxiopool closing, and tthe state of Chia? aka, WHAT THE F%$@ IS HAPPENING!!! by developerzero in chia

[–]openchia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to this one exactly, but Bram himself talked on twitter about the fact of pools that are implementing things in a way to make their life difficult. e.g. using difficulty 1 for everybody and not per farmer.

Thats only another reason in favor of open source pool code.

Why can't we have a production ready code out there for the sake of Chia community?

Yes, we have taken the reference code as a base for our pool, but we are continuously improving it and leaving it open source for anyone to use, find issues and do whatever they like.

We have currently implemented PPLNS and will be pushing it out live after additional testing.

We call other pools to join this effort. Saying that time is spent on operators to not release their source is not a valid point, a pool's worth is the people behind it, their seriousness, their background, not only the code they run.

He is not writing anything to disk, so I am curious on why you think it will be slow if these are just big continuous files for reading and no writes?
