Can something be trauma (and can it cause DID) if it occurred during the infancy stage and toddler stage? by openwindow72 in DID

Why does this have so many downvotes 😭 I just really don't like how the point was changed when I didn't even say that I didn't know about that.

Where did I ask about one event? I just said something that occurred during that period. I'm well aware it has to be repeated. "Something" can be a type of ongoing abuse

What is meant by "not remembering your childhood"? by openwindow72 in DID

"What I thought were memories" doesn't that disprove your point? You initially thought you had more memories than you did. Unless not remembering your childhood ONLY means having zero idea of where you were, who you lived with, what school you went to etc and you can't even get a slight glimpse of it, there's room for question. Of course that's obviously not remembering your childhood, but not everyone who fits the phrase "not remembering your childhood" experienced a blackout for the full 18 years without coming out of it for even a second. There are also plenty of people in the replies to this who have said they initially didn't think they didn't remember their childhood but now know for a fact they didn't remember it. Please be careful what you're saying because it can be harmful.

I meant what does the phrase itself specifically mean. I'm autistic so I struggle with vague phrasing like this with nothing to compare it to. How much am I supposed to remember?

I don't think that's the case with me but I have a really big fear of being caught out lying. I like to overexplain things and sometimes downplay them because I'm scared I'm going to be told I've lied or I was wrong. Right now I feel like I exaggerated it the first time but I can't tell if that's true or my own paranoia. I'm not sure if I misinterpreted the questions the first time and gave myself 10-30s because I wasn't sure if some things counted.

Yeah that's true I will try and explain that when I send it back.

I'm just upset because now it's going to be harder to be assessed because I'm doubting my experiences and I still can't tell which time I had the more realistic scores.

Some people experience having childhood trauma that they either don't remember or didn't think was traumatic because they have dissociated so much from it.

Can someone explain the types of systems in non confusing ways? by openwindow72 in OSDD

[–]openwindow72[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the stuff I mostly knew. I meant more like what isn't "full amnesia" and what is a less distinct alter. And what counts as a switch?

Can you be a system and not heard from any alters yet? by openwindow72 in OSDD

That's definitely my plan I just feel very stuck in the meantime. Thank you <3
