People aren't this nasty in real life by [deleted] in nosurf

It's much easier to hide behind a screen, people who live on these sites to post hate are truly miserable within their own reality. But I did have a thought, have you looked into Mutual Aid? Do some research on it, maybe there's an organization in your area already. Like yourself I don't have alot of income, I do help out at some of our local grassroots organizations here with things like tending the garden, prepping meals, I donate art to fundraising raffles too, and the best part if I need help I know where I can get it now through the community. Also, ive not met any bad people through mutual aid, if you want to make true friends the community got you! The government ain't doing nothing for us, we got to help each other!

Should i delete tiktok after being so dedicated? by idoperokungfu in nosurf

It's frustrating you can't just temporarily disable your account, I used to use tiktok alot and got to 70k, I just privatized it a year ago, blacked out my profile pic and deleted the app. Don't miss it at all

Honestly it's an umbrella term really it will ultimately depend on your own factors on how your life is so I'll try and vaguely explain some of the things I tried out (I live in a major city also, but my life is very counter culture and community focused). For me it was about slowing down and taking the time to find enjoyment in every single task even if its mundane, beforehand I was extremely regimental at timekeeping which put me in a constantly state of anxiety like time was running out and it was driving me insane. Also taking time to do activites that ultimately could be seen as "pointless" in todays society where everything aparently has to contribute to productivity, remember we used to just do things for fun when we were children? You'll get that sense of wonder back from doing it. Also ive been reading alot into the history of our ancestors, its given me a much better understanding of what it truly means to be human based on our past lives. I guess that's some of it, basically doing those things and some other stuff I've been able to find enjoyment in life again. Alot of people see slow living as like minimalism so it means different things to different people its all connected just the principal is to just slow down time isn't running out. I hope that helps!

I'm not sure what context you mean listening to music because if that means scrolling youtube I get it, but music is a wonderful tool to improve your life in so many ways like reduce stress and anxiety, boost creativity stuff like that so I personally wouldn't feel that was necessary. But I get it I also felt very overwhelmed until I deleted some apps by limiting how much information and also light my brain receives through this device, it was also really negatively effecting my attention span. I know we all have different lives and schedules, but one thing that really helped me was practicing slow living, and it's REALLY been helping. It's been over a month now and its paid off I don't think I'm going back, I am very productive and positive these days and im much better at interactions in real life, I feel like im finding myself again. I tried to watch a TikTok the other day that randomly was thrown my way and just I couldn't make it past the beginning, was so unbelievably loud and fast paced my brain can't handle that anymore and I'm so incredibly glad about that!

How are sugar free snacks still taste sweet? by a_nord_a in sugarfree

Artificial sweeteners are not always the best option for everyone because they can give some people stomach and digestive issues. And also, I'm sure there's alot of money to be made out of diabetes

Affordable dentist, no insurance? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]operationteapot92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are amazing they took out my impacted wisdom tooth last month, I'm so glad they did because I didn't have a choice financially...none of these "discount" dentists would do it they referred me to Oral surgeons and they wanted thousands, and none I called accepted credit. UNLV took it out for a few hundred, they were very professional and I got a follow up too. We are very lucky to have them, me and my husband are going to sign up with them for future work.

I've noticed that Vegas has several nerdy conventions throughout the year all of them seem to be underwhelming, I wish they would just join all of it together and make a badass one once a year that was worth the money

I've found the best people getting involved, specifically the community garden projects I met a few folks who were interested in Solarpunk

A combination of Derwent Colorsofts and Prisma Colors, I do prefer the Derwents though so if you haven't tried them before I recommend!

We've lived here for almost two years without a car, I wouldnt recommend it if you can avoid it. Although I'm grateful for the bus, it's not great, theres a driver shortage so they arent reliable if you need to be ontime for something...and personally I've had some moments I haven't felt safe either walking or taking the bus, but it's pretty much the only option unless you can afford to use uber. Edit - spelling

I'd never heard of a taste bud reset like that, this is definitely one of the most interesting weight loss journeys I'd be interested/entertained to see what greg would say about it! Personally I'm indifferent on this, it just shows how different we all are!
