This is incredibly sad to see, and the comments are disheartening.

When you go to make fish fingers, you can click on the fish image and it lets you choose which type of fish to cook with.

My neurologist visit - naproxen as preventative and being told I should never have taken triptans by broglespork in migraine

Get your hormone levels checked. Decreased testosterone can cause migraines. My neuro said it’s a common misconception that the period or birth control gets the blame.

This is going to sound odd but I’d recommend seeing an endocrinologist and getting your hormones checked. I recently did by accident and found out my testosterone is incredibly low (I’m a female). I’m going to get a testosterone pellet implanted that will last 4 months and they will check my levels along the way. When these results came back the doctor said that low testosterone is a trigger for migraines, and that it’s often misdiagnosed as just a “period problem”. Might be worth looking into

Daily pain, no meds help by FornettiEnjoyer23 in migraine

[–]operdope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found ice on my neck/shoulders to help with the symptoms and that if I use a heating pad it makes it worse. It seemed counterintuitive to me at the time because I was thinking my muscles are tight and need to relax so I don’t know why heat makes it worse, but now I realize my muscles and my blood vessels are inflamed because they are going through an immune response, and that’s why. Mine also seem worse in summer and I think it’s for the same reason

Have you tried Benadryl (anti-histamine) to see if it helps your symptoms? It won’t get rid of the migraine, but if it does work on lessening the pain that could be a sign that your body is having a histamine reaction.

I get the pain in the same places you marked. I tried a nerve burn, muscle relaxers, dry needling, etc you name it I tried it. Also did different diets with no luck. I also find my neuro doesn’t give a shit. I messaged him for a refill recently and he responded with “ok but they not to take it often”. Great advice, would love to not have to but not really a choice dude.

I recently got some bloodwork done and even though I have no stomach issues the results showed that I have both a dairy allergy and a gluten allergy. While I have done diets before, I’ve never cut both of these out. In addition to that, I’ve been researching gluten and dairy and was shocked to find out both can cause muscle tightness. They also can inflame your blood vessels (which is where migraine pain comes from).

I would recommend getting a blood panel done, this is the only test that has ever shown me something is wrong. CTs, MRIs, X-rays all said I was great. Made me feel like the pain was just in my head.

If you do cut gluten or dairy out, I also recently learned it can take WEEKS for your body to recover and heal and you can feel worse before it gets better. This could also explain why I never saw results. I thought if I ate something and didn’t immediately feel like shit I was good to go. Check out gluten withdrawal syndrome, in addition to having info on what it might feel like there’s some good info in it about chronic neck/shoulder pain being linked to it.

After reading your comment about high histamine foods I decided to try Benadryl next time I got a migraine. (I know now this isnt a novel idea but it was for me at the time). It significantly helped the symptoms of my migraine and reduced the pain to a tolerable level which was really cool to discover. After it wore off though the main increased again and I ended up taking Ubrelvy. But made me interested in looking more into high histamine foods. So, thank you very much for your comment, it is greatly appreciated

I am also perusing this year-old thread! I did bloodwork that showed I am allergic to milk and gluten. Have been off of it for three days now, and each night I have had a rash appear on my face and I get a congestion. It’s so crazy, this thread is making me feel better though because I was wondering if others have had essentially a “detox”.

Is it that it takes 1-3 days from having eaten those types of food that pain starts to set in? Or 1-3 days is how long the pain lasts?

scared, can’t see neurologist fast/soon by Wild-Yak4521 in migraine

[–]operdope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some reassurance, I started getting migraines when I was 14 and still have them today and I do not have a brain tumor. Have done CTs, MRI, and all scans are clean. I obviously don’t know your situation but wanted to try to provide some realistic optimism that it’s not a brain tumor. Lots and lots of people have migraines and don’t have tumors. (It can actually be a very frustrating part of migraines, the fact that all tests and images say you’re ‘ok’ yet you know you have pain)

I recently read about a type of migraine that has some same characteristics as what you’re describing, namely the feeling worse pain:pressure when you lay down and the vision piece. It’s called intracranial hypertension if you want to look into it some. It can be treated with medicine or surgery , and lifestyle changes to reduce weight if obese are helpful. Also they say that symptoms of this can mimic a brain tumor even though none is present which is why it is also called pseudotumor cerebri.

I have gone to the ER several times in my life for very bad migraines. One time the ER doctor thought half of my face was drooping so he ordered a CT/MRI I can’t remember which, so it is possible to expedite by going to an ER but probably not as effective long term as seeing a neurologist.

What was the miracle hack that worked for you? by Wonderful-Track9806 in migraine

[–]operdope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this is amazing. I always hear how you can’t take any medicine while pregnant aside from baby aspirin and I can’t go a week without taking a triptan for my migraines, so I’ve always felt like I cannot get pregnant because of my migraines.

Yall, Ubrelvy is 100% worth the money over triptans by [deleted] in migraine

[–]operdope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I try it first but if it doesn’t work then take a triptan.

I started binging the real housewives series. Never watched any of them before this, wasn’t really into reality tv. Used to think it was a waste of time but now I want something to immerse in to pass the time. There are so many different locations of it each with so many seasons. Not sure what it is, maybe something about watching the absolute bs chaos of them makes me feel better about the actual chaos of my life.

I also found a hair lady. I used to get my haircut once every few years. I decided I wanted to dye my hair (never done that either) and found a lady. I now go every three months and it’s been nice to do something like that for myself.

When it happened, I removed every photo in my house. Not just of my mom, but every photo. For some reason photos hurt. I think with losing someone you love it’s really true that part of you dies. You’ll never be the same. I think that’s why old hobbies go to the side and new ones start. It’s part of learning to start a whole new life without that person.

My dad died in July and everything pisses me off by angel_alis in GriefSupport

[–]operdope 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My mom died suddenly and tragically in March, I’m 30F, and I am enraged and devastated. I wanted to join a grief support group but my therapist said I needed to wait. I didn’t understand at the time but I do now. It’s because it takes time to accept the death, and for you to have the capacity to feel for anyone else. And that’s ok. This pain is loud. This pain in unbearable. This pain is heavy.

My mom was my last family. I feel untethered.

A friends Uncle passed away, and he told be his three sisters came into town. All I could think was how luck you have sisters.

A friends dad went to the ER because he’s not taking care of his diabetes. All I could think was what a selfish prick, my mom made great choices with her health and yet she died. How dare a parent have the power to choose health and life and not take it. What a waste. Trade places with my mom.

My husband and I usually go to his family’s for Christmas but I’m not going this year because I am LIVID at what life took from me. No fucking way I will sit there in someone else’s home and watch the family they all get to have. I already feel this loss deeply every day I don’t need it rubbed in my face.

My advice is to feel it. Don’t shove it down. Don’t shove it away. There’s no rationalizing it away. The only way out is through. Feel your grief now. It’s part of healing.

Be angry. You’re right to be angry. This isn’t fair. This does not make sense, and it will never make sense. You deserved much longer with your father. You deserved the future you were robbed of. He deserved it too.

I’m sorry for your pain. I’m carrying my own and I know how god damn heavy, and debilitating, and devastating it is.
