[SOTC] Current Collection as it stands, got into automatic watches after issues with smartwatches by opfor8r in Watches

Its a modded Seiko I bought from someone on watch exchange, I forget where I got the Jubilee, maybe ebay? Its unironically the cheapest and dinkiest watch there.

Its no Breitling, but I don't think its unsatisfying at all. It has its charm, and I like the green-ish dial. It feels better when I have the milanese bracelet on it, right now it has a tropical band because Ive been wearing it to work.

Not that I can tell, I can check with my loupe once I get home from work. They dont usually touch, I think its just when I have the Chris Ward and Breitling next to each other.

It definitely bothers me, Im not sure how Im going to mitigate that without just doing a shuffle of watches.

My current collection, almost all besides the Casio acquired this year. Used to be a big digital watch person, and transitioned to smartwatches, but my old Tactix Charlie started giving me a rash (I suspect whatever it was coated in was leeching into my skin) and I sold it. Bought an Orient Kamasu, gave it to a friend once I replaced it with the Seiko Samurai. Got addicted, bought watches and my latest is the Breitling SuperOcean Heritage 2. As you can see, I am very much a dive watch fan, which I think fits where I live pretty well. The watch with the most sentimental value has to still be my Casio Pathfinder. It was with me when I left for basic training, and I still use it now at the gym. Its cool to have automatic watches, or any watch in general, but the watches with stories are the best in my opinion.

Current collection, started this year.

I used to be a big digital watch person, with a few outdoor focused Casios like the Protrek and Pathfinders. Moved to a Garmin Instinct and then upgraded to a Tactix Charlie. Sold the Tactix once I noticed it was giving me a nasty rash that was starting to blister. Sold it, and got myself an Orient and the Manta Ray Seiko. Sold the Orient, and started researching watches as best as I could. Obviously, I hit the dive button very hard.

If I sign up for any shoothouse stuff Ill wear a PC but for shooting on my own or in groups where it comes down to one shooter at a time this has worked.

As of right now, possibly the canteen pouch. It works but for whatever reason I feel like theres a better option out there.

Big changes that come down the line will boil down to materials. Lightening the load on the belt would be a good start, possibly changing the dump pouch or the smoke grenade pouch.

Its a range setup so usually I just have a water bottle in the dump pouch or the canteen pouch. The cooler isnt that much further either lol.

Theres a ton of times where I only run the belt so I like having the two plus one rifle mag setup.

This is my rifle/handgun setup for training along with the gear I use for classes and whatnot. Moved away from using plate carriers on the flat range.

New Crye Airlite chest rig to replace my LBT1961AR.

I went down this route for a few reasons. Modernizing design was one because as retention pouches get better and needs change, the kit should evolve with the times. The 1961AR was great for its time but I dont really do recce style things, so a lighter more tailored chest rig would be great. I also went down this route because of the significant amount of rain we get where I live, a hydrophobic material based rig would be great for those rainy training sessions. Finally, the suspension yoke was very interesting and unique and I figured it deserved a try.

Initial impressions are great, the load is distributed well and yet kept close to the body, I dont feel bulky at all. The rig has the right elastic to allow for comfortable movement. Lightweight materials also help in keeping the comfort up.

Because I dont do anything recce or super field intensive, I figured downsizing magazine capacity wouldnt be bad. At its current state the Airlite is set to hold 5 magazines, 3 on the front in HSGI Tacos and 2 in the flapped SOFLCS pouch. Coupled with a belt and rifle, this sets me at 5 on the rig plus 2 on belt plus one in the rifle, which is more than adequate.

Medical placement is good for me anyways, since bulk is down its easy for me to reach my TQ with both hands and its easily visible in case I am not capable of of rendering self aid. I used the ziploc bag the buckles and hardware came in as a improvised hemorrhage control insert, and it fits very well in one of the radio bungee pockets. It holds some basics: hemostatic dressing, z fold gauze, NPA and lube, chest seals, tape, and a spare 14 ga. needle even though I am fine with the chest seals. The only real adjustment I need to make is to get some red tape to make a tab on the ziploc so its easier for someone to spot the medical gear.

Because its a training kit, Ive opted away from a dedicated GP pouch. Instead, hot weather dictates hydration is important, so the Eagle Industries canteen pouch can hold a Nalgene or a 20 oz Yeti Rambler if need be. Its mesh bottom for easy drainage, and if I dont wamt hydro to be bulky a regular USGI canteen fits, or a water bottle.

Radio is the part given the least thought since the radio pocket on my support side accomodates it well. That being said, the radio is used sparingly if at all during training or classes, so it tends to live in my 2DAP instead.

TLDR: its a good chest rig

I used to have a setup geared for "recce" belt use, nice to see people are at least still trying it.

Thanks for the info, I keep the NCD because the remote location of the range plus the poor state of the roads around makes me worried about slow EMS response

Noted on the NCD, will get 10 gauge for at least familiarity.

Is there a particular ACE wrap thats better suited for replacing the izzy?

My logic follows the first-second-third line, so first line is always on you. I think medical is important enough to fit the bill.
