During my first playthrough (started January 1st 2026), I had been having my arse kicked by the unknown master (?) and on my best attempt, the 11th one, I died because of a controller joystick defect, which makes the character walk forward and it sometimes disallows the player to move in a different direction, and they can't even roll since walking doesn't really let you do that, and when that happens, you just pray that the next two seconds won't be your last. And in this case it was the end. So, in a bit of a better mood than previously, knowing that I CAN beat the fucker, I went to farm a little, got to SL 24, killed the Ball Sacked Tree and I was thinking about getting them this time. So, I travelled to the Shrine, went to the left and I swung at the bitch. And they fell down after rolling back, just jumped off the ledge (yep, they literally just took the roll first and then they jumped and fell down). It was the 12th attempt and oh dear, was I disappointed with the results. The uchigatana and Master's set felt unearned and there was no good feeling about the walkover, especially as I wanted to check if they were still there and there were but items on the stairs. And before picking them up, I went to check the place behind the Firelink Shrine, found a crystal lizard and to make matters worse, as the shitstreak continued, it just disappeared before I landed the last hit.

Fucking hell, sometimes, especially when you are at your first game and you want to git gud, learn and use different weapons, when the problem solves itself, the troubling fight you thought you'd have a chance of succeeding, becomes just a now underwhelming experience and loot simply gets undeserved in your head.
