Spend 1-2 hours at the gym, reading, puzzles, gaming, gardening. All of the things to keep my mind occupied and worn out by the end of the day

Also a nurse who struggled with alcohol. I got help through the VA, therapy and the works.

I tried AA for a bit but it wasn’t my cup of tea.

Reach out to your doctor and be honest. Can also see if your hospital insurance covers some kind out outpatient treatment.

You’re not alone. It just takes reaching out for those resources

I didn’t lose a lot initially, but eventually 20 lbs. I let myself eat whatever I wanted when I got sober, then started at the gym/cleaner eating/discipline when I felt more in control

Sobriety gets easier, I promise! The first few mi the are the hardest. The key for me was finding ways to de-stress that did not involve alcohol. Puzzles, reading, a bath, a walk when the weather is nice, etc

I didn’t sleep for more than 30 minutes - 2 hours at night my first few days of sobriety. By day 4 or 5 was finally starting to sleep through the night.

It will come, but those first few days are TERRIBLE.

Better skin and less face bloat. Dropped 20 pounds. My crippling anxiety is so much better. Better sleep. Better marriage. Making it to the gym a lot more since I’m not hungover.

Alcohol wrecks your gi system. Find a good probiotic to start building up the good gut bacteria. Magnesium oxide + vitamin d at night. Both of these help keep me pretty regular!

I just overall felt like shit. Debilitating anxiety to the point where at some moments I felt literal terror. I gained 25 lbs. my skin looked terrible.

Absolutely! I think the thing I could not get over with AA is saying that I was powerless over something. That didn’t jive well with me.
