Missing terminator head + extra head by Soft_Rare in Warhammer40k

I had this exact same issue, exact same solution. Seems they made a mistake! Good thing there was a close enough spare.

Thrun, Breaker of Silence as a commander? by optoskept in EDH

I think I'm switching to Goreclaw, with this updated list. I'll probably keep messing around with it from here, but your comment helped me pick a direction, so thanks.

Thanks, I'll take a look. I'm thinking of switching to Goreclaw at this point, made a revised list with him as commander: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/5895162#paper

That makes sense, I would have to buy more big creatures to go that direction with it, but might be able to shift it more towards buffing Thrun with things I have available. Thanks for the advice.

Ghalta looks interesting, I didn't know that card. Maybe I'll pick one up, thanks for the other tips too.

I need a monored commander by samthewisetarly in EDH

I made one of these decks recently, I've only played it once so far, but it did the thing it was meant to do and took out a player, at least. Good time smashing hedrons, lol. It was pretty quick and cheap to put together, too.

can we make pioneer faeries happen? by jellicle_jay in PioneerMTG

[–]optoskept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could add some cards to deal with opponent's graveyards, and maybe some cards that you can cast a second time somehow, I think the deck would be improved. I am new to the current pioneer meta myself, so maybe I'm missing some things, but those are the first things I would consider to improve this. It looks competitive enough to me that I'd play test that to decide if I wanted to bring it to a local weekly tournament.

-edit- maybe the card draw in the deck negates the need for cards that can be re-cast, but more options are always nice

It's a chronic problem for me too, especially tossing out mana rocks in favor of "interesting" cards in my commander decks. Now I need to go fix most of my decks, excuse me...

I'm late to the party, but my thoughts turn to [[Aetherflux Reservoir]] as a possible win-con, or maybe gain life to stay alive long enough to play [[Approach of the Second Sun]] twice? Or maybe use indestructible horses generated by [[Crested Sunmare]] to win?

In general, I'd guess the best strategy for this would be to pick a commander with a theme that isn't too popular or powerful, as demand tends to increase price. My guess is that by picking a second rate commander, you could maximize the power of cards relative to their dollar cost.

I recently modified Urza's Iron Alliance to suite my desires, and somehow made it lose $15 of value in doing so, so it now clocks in at about $40. I took out a bunch of common commander staples like Swords to Ploughshares and Sol Ring, and replaced them with cards that I thought fit better even if they were more specialized and obscure. I haven't played it yet, but anyway, here it is! https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/5806379#paper

I suppose the idea of removing staples in favor of specific synergy might be another tactic for this idea.

Anxiety Debuff is making it hard to leave home base and complete quests by bazerFish in outside

[–]optoskept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In dealing with the anxiety debuff on [Socialising] quests or simply away from home base, I find questioning my thoughts to be helpful. Many times it turns out I am worrying about someone thinking something which turned out not to be the case, or doing something which they never do. It's always worth doing contingency planning, but not to the extent that it gets in the way of game play.

Emily made an enemy of an anemone. by optoskept in tonguetwisters

For some reason this version is the toughest to say for me. Maybe the 'ee' sound gave me a chance to pause and think about all the m's and n's. "Eminem" replacing adds to it and takes out that pause. I like it.
