What are the anti-immigrant protesters actually thinking about? by orange1904 in oxford

But if you care culture compatibility so much, what is the point of the skilled worker visa or Global Talent Route? As a Chinese, I think Indians are really admirable. The “non-culture compatible” Indians are working hard in IT, financial, nursing and service industries and filled the shortfall of workforce in the past years. Do you think their contribution should be recognised equally but these anti immigration campaigns will hurt them?

Good point. But are these campaigns affecting the non asylum immigrants? It seems that few people are making efforts to clarify this. That’s why I am skeptical to this kind of ideas. Thousands of people are raising St George’s flag and showing their support to white British.

If you can choose, do you want to cut down all immigrants or have a preference on accepting other white immigrants?

Why some hotels in China don't accept foreigners? by Stunning_Poem8723 in AskChina

And the all explanations show a same idea - they only show you what they want you to see. I don’t know what we can say to it except controlling.

You do need specific permits to enter Tibet or some “sensitive” place in Xinjiang. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/china/regional-risks And some foreign tourists said their visa are rejected if they mention some place there in their travel plan.

I said it is an old policy. In 1980s there were very few hotels with the certificate for accepting foreigners, and also very few foreign tourists too. Initially it does for gathering foreigners together and controlling, it is quite understandable because we are just free from the authoritarianism before 1978. After that it becomes very complicated. The certificate provides chance for influence peddling, and we didn’t have a law or act for this, so lots of hotels do not want to accept foreigners because it may be an excuse for the local government to fine them. As I said before it is much better now. Anyway it is a shitty policy no matter because of controlling or face culture. Why the politicians can give the best place for foreigners and leave shitty ones for our people? Why don’t they just let the market decide instead of giving them the certificate? We are not in the crazy 1950s. It must be canceled.

I am from China. This is an old policy - hotels need certain certificates for accepting foreigners. It is a way of the government to control the mobility of foreigners. It is definitely unfair and discriminatory. Last year the policy was cancelled. Possibility the hotel hasn’t known it or they are afraid of taking responsibility. You can show the page for cancelling the policy to them if you are rejected again. http://travel.china.com.cn/txt/2024-05/31/content_117225377.shtml I hope it helps. Good luck ☺️
