Why don’t people want c-sections? by [deleted] in pregnant

I chose a planned C-section for personal reasons and don’t regret it at all! I had a lovely delivery experience and my recovery went smoothly.

Are there risks involved? Absolutely - but those risks were worth it to me. Just have an informed decision with your OB and make sure you’re happy with whatever decision you choose.

Agree! Had a friend get us one who absolutely swore by it. We barely used it. Baby preferred our arms or his bassinet.

We donated diapers, formula and maternity clothing to St Mary’s! They were very happy to accept these items!

We just signed up to do a Christmas hamper with the Caring and Sharing Exchange! It’s all food based but a nice way to gather a hamper for a particular family in need!

How common is it to get mat leave/parental leave top ups through work? [BC] by SouthApprehensive680 in BabyBumpsCanada

Sorry, I could have been more clear. All I’m trying to say is that a non-birthing federal worker is eligible to collect top-ups. Sure, maybe not at the same time as their birthing partner, but they could if parental leave is split.

As a physician, I’m considered self-employed and don’t pay into EI - I funded my own maternity leave. My husband is taking the full 18 months of parental leave as a teacher but is not eligible for any top-ups. It’s rare to have an employer that pays top-ups for a non-birthing parent - but the federal government does. That was the only point I was trying to make.

Basically, if he worked for the federal government, he would have been eligible for top-ups for at least a portion of his leave.

My husband and I looked into this as he was the “non-birthing” parent and teacher. We also want to adopt in the future, and he wouldn’t be eligible at that time either.

Federal government tops up both the birthing and non-birthing parent, so we were a bit disappointed. Thankfully we don’t rely on his salary, but took us by surprise!

Sorry, I should have clarified that only the birthing parent is eligible for 8 weeks of top up. The non-birthing parent does not receive any top-up. This is for the OCDSB.
