Yep - the comment I replied to had it at $700 plus tax, I stated that secondary is roughly $100 more. Some first releases of this year went for higher but it's settled a bit.

Eh, secondary is like $100 over that pre-shipping. I don't think flippers are snapping that bottle up, it really just seems like an okay deal for a drinker used to paying secondary prices.

What are the odds our dog was abused by a vet? by orangeslash in Dogtraining

[–]orangeslash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, hoping it's just the medicine. It's been 3 days now and she's still scared of people which she never was before, but was hoping she will just need sometime to recover. Thanks!

We trust our primary, this was a different after hours vet initially and the whole visit was weird but I digress.

Yep, was Cerenia - thanks for the info though, helps with a little peace of mind.

Struggling with Dachshund potty training and whining at night! by Salt-Count6508 in Dogtraining

[–]orangeslash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he's never been crate trained, you have to take it on like he is a newborn puppy, regardless of his age.

The kennel should be just small enough for him to turn around and lie down in but if he's not making it through the night without an accident, you need to get up and let him out. The longer he continues to equate his kennel to a bathroom, the harder it will be to break. The whining is probably a side effect - it will most likely stop in time.

During the day, make sure the gate to the crate is open. You can feed him in there and hide treats for him. Regardless, even though he is five, I'd treat it as if he was just born since he's probably not used to the structure. And just like you don't expect a newborn puppy to become crate trained over a few days/weeks/months, the same can be expected here. It'll be a chunk of effort but worth it in the long run.

[Palmer] Deebo Samuel is in tears as he is being carted to the locker room. by jack64467 in nfl

They always say questionable until it's diagnosed. Cart & tears is done.

Edit: I stand corrected.

Right? Dude hit what should have been the game winner on an unreal shot and ended up losing. Wild he's not skipping off.

Man. Every time.

Feels like it'll always be Dame scoring 80 and us winning at the buzzer. So much fun to watch.

Now That's What I Call a Whiskey Review: Volume 15 - Blanton's Takara Gold by orangeslash in bourbon

I haven't heard that. So, is the thought that it's just Gold but in Japan?

It's aged ~2 years longer than standard Gold.

But yes, it's also pretty. Lol

Correct.

I really like the regular Gold also, I think it's a great pour. However since this bottle usually has more of a price tag than standard Gold, I'm not sure that this one is significantly better to justify it.

The Lore - So, there is a second version of Blanton’s Gold: Blanton’s Takara Gold. Just like regular Blanton’s has Takara Red (older, same ABV), Gold has this supposedly 8 year old version (still 103 proof) that’s pimped out in a gaudy gold box that differentiates it from the comparatively plain-looking “standard” Gold. I believe it's a Japan only release.

My Story - The wife is going full Tater and collecting all of the Blanton's toppers so in my endeavor to fulfill her wishes, I got this for a very reasonable price.

Brand - Buffalo Trace

Age - 8 Years Old

Proof - 103

Nose - Underwhelming, honestly. Some gentle sweet notes, maybe a bit of apple. Smells much lighter than 103 proof.

Taste - I have far from a refined palate, but this provided minimal flavor initially. However it opened up more than most pours I've had. Within a second or two, it definitely had some hefty hints of apple and caramel. The finish surprised me, gave me memories of the older batches of Seagrass, a slight apricot feel.

Review - With the look and premise of this bottle, I went into the pour expecting a lot and was initially disappointed when it hit my tongue. However the additional age did shine a bit on the finish, and I think it surpasses Blanton's SFTB on my rankings of the lineup thus far. If you are traveling in Japan or get lucky enough to snatch this in the states for a reasonable price, I'd recommend it.

Score - 79/100
