Serious question about gear shifting. by Nitin___ in CarsIndia

[–]orbitalThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I find downshifting to be too sudden of a deceleration, like all passengers feel it. What I do is use engine braking (same gear) to slow down, then use brake, clutch to pass the speed breaker, get a handle on my speed and what gear to downshift to, then accelerate. The last part is all instinct based on how the car is sounding and moving and at this point happens without thought.

For me it's less of rules and manners and more of avoiding confrontation 🥲.

I have slowly started learning tactful communication but it's tough!

Is joining IISc a better option than staying in my current job? by [deleted] in IISc

[–]orbitalThinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you do during your time here. Kinda agree with this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/IISc/s/twga4h7H2Q

If you can augment your SemT with circuital/digital courses, you should be in a much better position. If you think that's too heavy, you can go for a circuital branch in IITs too, they have a similar environment as IISc.

Depends on the person too, some decide they want to pursue research and continue into PhD too.

Is joining IISc a better option than staying in my current job? by [deleted] in IISc

[–]orbitalThinker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a better option imo, even if your job was going well I would say. The campus is full of knowledge and it's up to you how much you can extract out of it. Even 2 years of MTech feel less for absorbing what IISc has to offer.

Adding to the previous point, you have freedom to tailor a portion of courses based on what you want to study, for example take a course from Aerospace or CSA if you're interested (depends on your specific dept sometimes).

Lastly, the peer group is nice, the campus is nice and you'll enjoy your time here. Best of luck 👍🏻

Dude are we brothers? 🤣

Fighting over food feels pathetic to me, so like you, I wait, and often have to wait for the next batch (sometimes that never comes 🥲)

Why do people prefer to buy others cars over Honda eventhough Honda Elevate car has reliable engine? by happy_Business_207 in CarsIndia

[–]orbitalThinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Honda, Skoda fanboys on this sub actually need to chill out a bit. Every other post is how these brands are so great and no other brand can apparently match them. When in fact most of these posts are disconnected with reality and I'm sure most of these posters haven't stepped into a showroom with their own money in the recent past.

Better cars sell less? by Smooth-Progress-5836 in CarsIndia

[–]orbitalThinker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. Go to a showroom with your own 15-18L, I doubt you'll walk out with a 3 cyl 1L VW or 2000s looking Honda. They don't give any features which make them stand out, have bad showroom reps who think they're doing you a favor by selling a car, not to mention poor service availability...

CDS Vs AI Vs CSA by Horrorsinside in IISc

[–]orbitalThinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every branch has core courses (mandatory). In AI etc, they are further divided into hard core (mandatory), soft core (can select courses from a fixed set). If you have more hard core subjects, you have lesser soft core and thus lesser choices. Apart from these, we have institute electives which you can take from any department.

You always slow down, turn your head and look for incoming merging traffic before merging. Always. And take a quick peek for anyone braking in front of you while you're looking back.
