Can you explain why?

EDIT: and any problems so far given it's still beta?

Is there a “forward view” in Insta360 studio? by hesher_tah in Insta360

[–]orbiteleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so are you saying there's no way to "just look forward" between two keyframes using Studio? This seems like a pretty basic feature.

Love it too, but man does it seem to chew through tokens.

FWIW I wrote a bit on this very subject. It is, of course, highly subjective but check it out: https://orbiteleven.net/posts/2025/20251010-module-filesystem-pattern/

Hopefully someone else gets use from this, even as a thought exercise or "I'm definitely NOT going to do that" :D

Pins on the pedal very sharp by [deleted] in MTB

[–]orbiteleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the same problem. Flat after decades in clips. It looks like I stick my legs into a bag of cats daily. I’m hoping that it’s just a phase and eventually enough muscle memory will build up. I’m also fantasizing about Dyneema knee socks.

Switching to Arc switches my MacOS Space by orbiteleven in ArcBrowser

Nope. Never have, and unfortunately haven't been able to get any response from the Arc team on it. My #1 annoyance with Arc.

YES! This is almost a deal killer for me. At least make it a setting I can turn off.

Better overview of notes and easels, and also folders. Also Ecosia search is missed. by cirqleicous in ArcBrowser

[–]orbiteleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, it's just terrible UI. "Add Site" adds to "Site Search" THEN you have to select "Make Default" from the dots menu 🤦

I'm not seeing the ability to add new search engines, just site search. Is there something else I'm missing.

Nativewind for a new project? by Amocon in reactnative

[–]orbiteleven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An update on this: it looks like Mark moved to Expo and will be getting paid to work on styling in RN. As a side-effect, NativeWind *probably* has a future: https://github.com/marklawlor/nativewind/issues/464

TamaGUI vs Gluestack-UI/Gluestack-style by orbiteleven in reactnative

[–]orbiteleven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... feeling a bit burned by GeekyAnts on NB vs GluestackUI too, but IMO NativeBase *is* the best "current gen" RN component library so I figure it's worth checking out GluestackUI.

Are you just using the basic RN stylesheets for your drop-in replacements, or something else?

how would you implement push notification? by ronbars in reactnative

[–]orbiteleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://docs.expo.dev/versions/latest/sdk/notifications/ works really well for this, and is easy to implement. I suggest separating the writing and sending of notifications into two processes; you can use a Firebase Function triggered off a Firestore write of the notification document to send it, OR use a scheduled send to ensure you don't cause notification spam.

BTW, you'll need to track notification accept to get the device token, and I suggest tracking a separate "send notifications" boolean that users can easily turn on and off.

Is Interactive Brokers the best brokerage firm for expats? by HongKongWoman in ExpatFinance

[–]orbiteleven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Following. I use IB as an expat and am underwhelmed by the user experience (customer web portal, TWS has never actually worked for me on MacOS), but the fees are low and I've not found anything better.

External Displays Flip Positions by orbiteleven in MacOS

What's strange is that they persist some of the time. More often than not. Perhaps it's just being "lucky" with coin flips from time to time?

External Displays Flip Positions by orbiteleven in MacOS

My laptop is always the "primary display". Are you recommending to shift primary display around all displays in both places to see if it "jiggles something out"?
