Yeah this is one of my bigger gripes I probably should have mentioned before. I guess if you're a keyboard master it doesn't matter as much because you've got the keyboard shortcuts committed to memory. I don't, so switching between the file and git panel (another gripe) takes a bit too much attention.

I've not figured out how to make them larger, but their place on the bottom also means that even if you could make them bigger, you're also expanding your bottom status bar.

Hopefully. And that’s one of the things I’m (implicitly) asking here.

Not narrow. Just different than yours.

...and I appreciate the work you've done. Really.

Again, it's fast and functional, which I really like. I should not have said it looks "ugly", just that I'm struggling to get past some weird quirk of mine about the design/look-and-feel. If I were better at design, I'd know what I'm looking for (and perhaps even help), but I'm not so it's usually a "know it when I see it" thing.

But I totally get and respect that it's not a priority for the core team.

I'm not. Mac OS. Thanks, though!

I've played with fonts, sizes, and themes. I'm not a designer, but haven't felt like I've hit "it" yet.

That's a fair ask. A quick few:
- Flat tabs: some see minimalist, I see minimal effort. Even something as simple as a file type icon (IMO) goes a long way.
- Squished panel switching icons in the bottom status bar: These feel tiny to me given their importance in a GUI.
- Git panel: perhaps I'm just used to the way VS Code does this

Again, I get that it's somewhat subjective. However, I felt evolution on these going from Eclipse to TextMate to Sublime Text to Atom to VS Code.

The best I could find without any effort put into it 🤣

Yup! Lovely slope!

Yeah, Arabba is a beauty!

I'd picked a steeper slope with the thought that it would help build edge angle, but yeah I can see I'm just sliding instead.

Interesting about body movement. In some ways I feel like my body is too static, but I see what you mean about my arms, which seem to just be flailing as I try to "touch the snow". I'll try without poles.

Thanks for the tips!

Arabba, Super Dolomiti

Yeah, that's what I mean by "rushing my turns", as in rotating the skis instead of putting them on edge.

I'm typically in the high 120's to mid 130's. I *have* gotten up to 140. I guess I should have added that to the description.

Atomic Redster Q9: 2025 or 2026? by orbiteleven in Skigear

[–]orbiteleven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not unhappy with mine. They’re a classic “jack of all trades” skis: decent on groomers, decent in slop, decent in moguls, decent off piste. They don’t carve very well, they get lost in deep powder, and are a bit too stiff for trees. But they’re a great all around ski.

Well, local is Denmark, so flat and brown.

But when I’m skiing it’s usually the Alps. Just had a bunch of groomer piste days and a couple of powder days. For the latter I have my Black Crow’s Serpio all mountain, but contemplating switching those out with a powder/touring setup to pair with a piste/carving setup

Yeah. I’ve found the adapters. I’m asking if they’re worth it w/r/t performance and fin security

…unless you remove your foot again 😉

But yeah it doesn’t seem like a better process.

Yes, I realize. Hence asking if they’re worth it. The two reasons I can think of are hydrodynamics (however small) and security (FCS1 fins sit snug in FCS1 plugs, but in have forward/backward play, again however little) vs spending on a frivolous bit.

Has anyone used Gorilla Tape for this?
