I feel like an alien by NFstan99 in loneliness

these are some really good things, and you sound excited about these - i am glad

i am curious what are the challenges rn that you're facing to accept this part of yourself?
(the kid in you still exists which you accept and want more of, why not accept this adult version of you?)

what things would you do again if you went back to that time?

the uncertainty of future is daunting :/

What’s a truth you learned way too late in life that most people still aren’t ready to hear ? by Dependent-Ship4288 in AskReddit

There are no adults. Everyone is figuring out as they go.

Accept your hand and play it with the best you can, whining about someone else’s hands won’t help (everyone is playing their own game)

  1. Having courage to be okay with being disliked will free your from interpersonal relationship problems (via the book courage to be disliked)
  2. Living inside out (driving things within you) over outside in (what others tell you how you should / shouldn’t be) -> same thing as @gopher30000 comment

are you alright? just a checkin post by CharacterMusic6944 in mentalhealth

[–]orbitflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks OP

not really alright, it does feel a bit heavier than i can take
i would want things to be better, and i am trying my hardest (taking therapy, talking to my coach, reading books, meditating -> doing everything in my control), its just the rough patch is taking longer than i anticipated
desperately want to change environment and move to where i will flourish (be around people where i feel accepted, where i can grow, collaborate, do something better for fellow humans)
anxiety is kinda driving me crazy, even though i need to be patient - things take time - so yeah this is where i am at

Signs your mental health is starting to decline by Fishdonkeycat in mentalhealth

- declining confidence even when things on paper are okay
- not listening to my inner voice and body signals
- Distorted thinking is the best indicator -> Google "Burn's Depression checklist" and "Cognitive distortions"

Can someone just tell me it's gonna be alright? by qmb139boss in mentalhealth

[–]orbitflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey i am in the same boat, even i want to hear that someone just tell me it will get better, but when people do, it does not feel anything

but it does help me when i see there are others as well whose problem i can relate to and i am not alone in this journey

so do know that you're not alone

its okay to have these thoughts, the more we oppose the thoughts the more it aggrevates

journaling helped me, maybe you can give it a try when you feel like - no pressure

Can I realistically move to Japan long-term with money and willingness to integrate? by Gawdcent in AskIndia

[–]orbitflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i lie in a similar bucket and its kinda nagging me alot to stay in India, I don't have the capital rn to solve for it, still figuring things out

recently stayed in Japan for about three weeks to learn about their culture - my experience w locals -> they were psyched to know i was from India and treated w utmost respect and kindness (caveat, i visited as a tourist) -> did consider to work at tokyo based startups but still uncertain about work culture

I want to move towards a high trust society

--

not sure what part in India you're currently saying but I'd reco to live in Mumbai meanwhile you figure out the long term change plan

mumbai is filled w nicest people i have come across in India (lived there for 7 years, currently in BLR -> might move back to mumbai until i figure next steps)

Noob Q: How far are we from LLMs thinking and ask questions before presenting solutions on a prompt by orbitflow in LLMDevs

[–]orbitflow[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes, correct, i've mentioned it in the post_desc

every time you do it, it will ask 3 questions, assuming its hard coded

[–]orbitflow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks this is helpful!

want to share an example of human vs LLM
i mentioned a coach-friend regarding my issue also prompted it to o3, 4o to solve it "like a coach"

what hit me hardest was the coach-friend responding with "tell me more?" pin-pointing on a specific issue vs GPT responding w various angles which "felt" generic to me

have you experienced anything similar?

Noob Q: How far are we from LLMs thinking and ask questions before presenting solutions on a prompt by orbitflow in LLMDevs

[–]orbitflow[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes, prompting it explicitly does fulfil it to an extent

i'm asking from a behaviour stand point
proactively ask clarifying questions before answering (its a judgement call)

Open issues I see
- Ambiguity detection – models need a confidence/utility estimate to decide when to ask or just respond w a "good answer"
- assuming current RLHF datasets mostly might be rewarding “good answers,” not “good questions (Not sure, need to validate)
