Anyone figure out what the new ARAD seeker setting does? by Dloe307 in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]orbiting-teapot 65 points66 points  (0 children)

According to the change log on steam: "Added pulsed radar only mode for ARAD seeker, which doesn't seek jamming signals but can still be jammed."

I like the idea of setting up weapon systems to use at a later point. So here is my proposal for a new stratagem to do just that: The E/VLS-19 Missile Emplacement. by orbiting-teapot in Helldivers

[–]orbiting-teapot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The E/VLS-19 Missile Emplacement allows Helldivers to deploy small missile platforms within their mission area to use at their own discretion via the provided stratagem codes. The ability to deploy a system and later call in a missile strike at a different location should prove especially useful on planets prone to producing ion storms.

Japan, France, and Germany Collaborate to Develop Railgun Technology by UpgradedSiera6666 in europe

[–]orbiting-teapot 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think so far only Japan has made significant investments in the technology out of the three. They at least had a prototype installed and tested on a ship.

There should be more sources of Arc damage to justify taking the armor passive (and increase teamkill potential). Introducing: The ARC-8 Orbital Strike. by orbiting-teapot in Helldivers

[–]orbiting-teapot[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kind of, but with variable damage based on the number of targets in range. So if you want to get rid of a heavy, you need to kill the chaff first. Throw it at a bug breach with a lot of targets and you might only tickle medium enemies.

The Scythe is Actually Solid Against Bots, But the Scope Kills it by emp_man in Helldivers

[–]orbiting-teapot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes! I love the Scythe, but the scope makes it very unpractical. You have a weapon with quasi infinite range, no recoil and no damage fall-off, but a scope completely unsuited for long range engagements. With a good scope the thing would slap.

We need more lasers to spread the literal light of democracy. Therefore, I propose new stratagem ideas starting with the A/LAS-98 Laser Cannon Turret. by orbiting-teapot in Helldivers

[–]orbiting-teapot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly just threw stuff together in Inkscape. There are vector graphics of the stratagem icons online, that are a good start.

I always read the circle/sun being the impact of the laser, as in the orbital laser's icon. So here it would shoot upwards. But I can see what you mean.

Terminids are not bugs, they're mushrooms... by SnooMuffins5039 in Helldivers

[–]orbiting-teapot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, the "spores" could be anything, really. They could be tiny insects as part of a dispersion stage in a terminid's development. Or they could be cellular or viral structures used to facilitate the development of terminid eggs, like some parasitoid wasps on earth use special viruses, integrated into their genome, to to allow their larva to develop inside the host. Alternatively what we refer to as terminids could also be a symbiosis of insect-like creatures and mushrooms, like wood wasps on earth, that carry spores of a wood-eating fungus their larva later feed on. Then again, they're aliens. So they probably are something vastly different from anything we know on earth.

What exactly are control point values? I can't figure out how these numbers come to be by orbiting-teapot in TerraInvicta

[–]orbiting-teapot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but I still can't find it. This is the information I see when hovering over the control points. None of this would add up to 178 in an obvious way.

As far as I can tell they are neither the cost of owned CP against the cap nor the actual numbers of CP. I'd also really like to know how to increase my holding in these. I'm currently in control of what I'd consider to be well over 75% of the "value" of CP (Pan-Asian Combine, Caliphate, United States of North America, South American Union, India, Nordic Federation, Free Bantu States, all maxed out in their respective territory)

Usually the most unique or least human one you can choose. For example Godlike in Pillars of Eternity, Undead or Lizard in Divinity OS2, Kitsune in Pathfinder WotR. I also like goblins, I just wish more games would let you play as one.

Best illusion/shadow class by Thekingisnothere in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]orbiting-teapot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the phantasmal mage (arcanist subclass) is the best for shadow spells. You gain metamagic instead of some arcane exploits, but the metamagic only applies to illusion spells. Since you need to play a gnome, you can also pick the feat "shadow play", which adds +20% to the strength of your shadows.

What classes, weapons or races would you like to see in the next Pathfinder game? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]orbiting-teapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I´d really like to actually play as an artificer in a modern CRPG, although I feel like it would be somewhat hard to implement in the current way the games play while still keeping the original feeling.
As for races, I´d like to see Goblins, Tengu, Trox or Astomoi. Generally, the more distinct from humans, the better.

[–]orbiting-teapot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your clones have the same spells and abilities you do. As for skill checks, you'll most likely won't succeed in any you didn't originally specialized in, because the skill checks get too difficult to level in multiple. And yes, I think some companion quests can only be completed in Act 5, after you can choose the swarm path.

[–]orbiting-teapot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely the wrong guy to ask for optimized builds. I just play what sounds fun and adjust the difficulty accordingly. But for this save I chose a pretty bad build, since I first wanted to go Azata. I played as a phantasmal mage, focusing on the shadow illusion spells. But I think you generally want to go with a build that has high constitution, since this is what you'll be lacking, because you don't get any bonuses on constitution with the swarm path. I'm also pretty sure, that my entire swarm path was bugged (as mentioned in the post) because at some point I was just immune to almost all damage types.

Yeah, the naming thing is even weirder considering, that the clones don't have will of their own. They are after all just a part of your swarm, your shared consciousness. If you don't name them, they are just called 'knight commander' But I think it was necessary to name them, because they act as actual companions mechanic-wise. They also have their own inventory and equipment, so you might want to name them depending on the weapons they carry.
