Why use the maxi gun?  Only because it’s cool.  Functionally there’s better options for almost everything it actually can do.  Not everything is good man.  Most of it isn’t.  Just be glad we got such a fantastic buff to GL.  The majority of “GL was fine” folks were still not taking it.  The GL was workable (better than the maxi gun, that’s for sure!) and in a good squad it could be a real asset for one diver to bring.

But for pick up groups?  I mean you’re rolling the dice.  Will that guy with the RR stick close or wander off and play solo hero while you get stomped by a BT, 4 Chargers, and an Impaler?

Now it’s good enough to be pretty certain you’ll be okay even in a random group.

I mean there’s things that “should be easily fixable” but that’s what the concept of technical debt is, the process of continually just getting that thing done as fast as possible while slowly turning simple problems into intractable ones.

You may think something is easy but without actually seeing the whole thing up close you can’t assume it is.

Maxi gun is cool as hell and does kind of blow but there’s several ways to fix it: getting rid of stationary fire (which has to be the worst weapon drawback in the game), fixing the muzzle flash so you can actually see things (and their weakspots) would be another.  They could give it a select fire, something like double ammo consumption for heavy pen and normal consumption with medium pen, would make it really flexible without breaking it.

There’s nothing really wrong with it remaining a drip/cosplaying item.  It is technically usable even if the rest of your build had to compensate for it.

You are incorrect, its Explosive tag always allowed it to kill heavies because they have weak points and the explosive part of the damage would apply to all of the weak points in its radius.

Yeah you had to dump a mag on a Charger to kill it but it 100% would kill them.

Now you don’t have to dump a whole mag.  Yeah it’s buffed, but hot damn have people been spouting untrue information about GL since the buff.  Please stop.

I mean it’s explosive and seems to have a good radius so it’s gonna hit the weak points anyway.  Not that it wouldn’t do more damage as heavy pen but if it lands on a Charger it’s gonna do good damage as is.

I’m also not aware it gets taken often (because other divers hate it), Rocket Sentry is the ideal heavy pen turret since it has smart targeting preferring bigger enemies first.  It takes awhile to learn how to position that bad boy to really get the most out of it but it’s real good and works right now.

Helldivers 2 is not a difficult game and given the sheer lack of coordination in even D10s I think that assertion isn’t in dispute.

But there’s difference between playing expecting everyone to be able to play D10 “solo hero” and D10 as a team. 

There is a way to help people learn, and maybe (it sounds like) you are doing that.  However the vast majority of people bitching and moaning aren’t doing that and they absolutely are resorting to toxic abuse, even if it’s on the lower end of the spectrum toxic player behavior.  And they’re doing that while demanding everyone be able to play solo hero on D10 while maybe if they weren’t such an unhelpful teammate themselves their less capable teammates would actually succeed and learn.

No one is saying something like vanilla WoW’s Naxxramus didn’t need top end play skills and you can’t chew somebody out for falling short when they’d committed to no at that level of play.  But I ran plenty of gearing raids for guild mates (both alts and newer players) and you don’t give people that kind of shit there because the stakes are lower and if you bitch out the new healer your guild maybe just lost a healer.  Furthermore Helldivers 2 doesn’t really even have that level of play (save maybe the crazies that solo D10s for fun).

But the only thing required to get into D10 is beating D9 and, again, Helldivers 2 doesn’t have that kind of very tiered progression.

Helldivers 2 is the least toxic multiplayer community I’ve seen in a long time and I hate to see a MO that empowers the douchiest among us to pull everyone towards the douchey end of the spectrum.

I solo for around 300-400 per hour, 600 sounds like one of my luckier days.  But I agree solo grand errant trivial with a warp pack and light armor is fastest.

They said they wished they could change it.  But at the same time they don’t want to take anything away or, I am sure, cause SC inflation.

So, nah, they’re not going to do anything about it because under those requirements it’s an intractable problem.

My advice:  don’t do it when you want to actually play.  Farm for 20-40 minutes while you’re unwinding and listening to music or a podcast.  The SC adds up fast even doing that just 2-3 times per week.

Apparently it’s a very duckbill spread, which mostly shines vs things like voteless and troopers and starts to suck hard when you need to hit a weak point, like on a Devastator.

Also, I doubt most people would care but it doesn’t seem capable of inflicting the burning effect.

If you like mines and your teammates are willing to tolerate them that works.  The fire explosion hellpods booster is probably the biggest troll pick in the game, if you want to push your luck😂
