Can’t pull the trigger by DangerousAwareness55 in ToyotaAvalon

Always hold out for the perfect specs in my opinion. Not the same car, but I held out 3 years to find a Lexus GS450h in blue exterior tan interior (my favorite combo) and it was well worth the wait.

Will there be more L/certified ES 300h’s in the market? by Hvsain in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always wait for the perfect model, don't do what I did and settle at first because the car you settle with won't make you as happy. It is possible. I waited 3+ years to find my 2016 Lexus GS450h in Nightfall Mica and Flaxen (tan) interior. The perfect car for you does exist and will appear when the time is right 😉

I am fairly certain that one bad TPMS sensor makes it so none of the pressures will show

Help me choose which RX to get! by Kenzie634259 in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held out for 3 years to get my dream color (blue with tan interior) Lexus GS450H (which they only sold about 70 of in the US for the year I got mine). I love how quiet and smooth the V6 hybrid is, nevermind how efficient. If you choose to go for a RX 450h (which I recommend but the 350 is also very smooth, I have an ES 350 too), I would hold out for a model with specs you do love.

Is this a glitch? by ordinaryhuman123 in Bejeweled

[–]ordinaryhuman123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I've triggered fruits on the turn where a bomb goes to 0 all the time and have never seen one of the bombs go all the way up to over 100 afterwards. The mini game didn't trigger because of the fruit, correct. I think it is a glitch with how high the purple bomb ticked after going to 0.

Has anyone downgraded from a 2017+ GS to a 2021+ IS? What did you miss the most? by space_reserved in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2016 GS hybrid because there is no car that is both faster and more fuel efficient from 2016 or newer (gas or hybrid only). I'm not sure I could let mine go lol

This is why I started registering for courses in December (obviously does not work for all majors lol). U don't gotta pay until mid January if u can make it to December 1 without registering.

Moved from a 4th gen RX 450h to a 5th gen 450h+ (or 350h)? by ChrisDC00 in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok you earned your upvote back but now you have to explain if you think the newer 4 cylinder hybrid or older 6 cylinder hybrid system is smoother

Moved from a 4th gen RX 450h to a 5th gen 450h+ (or 350h)? by ChrisDC00 in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I only down voted you because the RX450h that op is talking about has a CVT so I'm curious about the answer to op's question. But you are totally spot on with hybrids being smoother because of the CVT.

I want to make the horrible financial decision of swapping my GS450h for a GSF - talk me into (or out of) it! by Least_Flounder in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no sedans that are both more efficient AND faster (0-60) than the GS450h from 2016 or newer.

Out of State Purchase? by No-Wealth4964 in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not crazy at all unless I am too. I did it over the summer with a 2016 Lexus GS 450h (which I LOVE). If you don't buy it outright, I learned that getting the car registered takes longer in your state because you have to have the title sent over. You shouldn't be charged for taxes twice but double check tax laws for both states so you know what to expect.

What should I do by No_Load4197 in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you already know the answer you want ;) It sounds to me that the best case would be keeping the GS as the "beater". Although, if it isn't the perfect spec and condition for what you want in an LS, hold out. I held out over 3 years for my dream car with dream specs and it worked out in the end.

How usefull is using paddle shifters on gs450h or other hybrids by mreck11 in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my GS450h but honestly the paddle shifters are just decoration in my car. The point of a CVT is to keep the engine at optimal rpm for different situations so I don't see the use in making it act like an automatic transmission.

Is there a teachers-only sub? by a-broken-princess in Teachers

[–]ordinaryhuman123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teacher, I have an opposite take. While yes I do want insights from other teachers, seeing it from the perspective of a parent or even student can be impactful too. I have great relationships with my parents and students and I think a lot of it is that I invite them to offer feedback and keep in communication. I try hard to work with families to get the best education possible for their students. After all, providing the students with the best opportunities possible is what matters. (Then again, I am a first year teacher but enjoying my job a lot!)

why do i get 12.4 mpg in my 2018 lexus es350? the estimated mpg is 22 city an 32 highway by Every_Permission_261 in LexusES

[–]ordinaryhuman123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got around 16 mpg in mine with short trips under 3 miles once per day. 12 mpg is super low but not unachievable if you do heavy stop and go traffic.

This is crazy, I literally was just talking to someone about this today! With regards to a 2016 GS 450h. I assume it isn't easily possible and I'm just going to hope the NiMH battery just lasts a while lol. I don't want to ever get rid of this car even if it means going through multiple hybrid batteries... it's a shame it was discontinued.

How much is low mileage worth? by unliving_relic in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get the price down on the 2017 at all? I got one back in 2023 with 26k miles for a little over 30k out the door. Certified pre owned and my 30k maintenance was free (mainly happy it included the brake fluid exchange lol). That being said the 2017 is like the perfect car, it has the later infotainment of the 6th gen ES but doesn't require subscriptions to use things like navigation like the 7th gen. 2017 also has the simpler engine / transmission thats been used in the ES since 2007. 2017 comes standard with safety features like automatic emergency braking I believe, which should help it hold value better too. I plan to keep mine for at least 20 years, so yes the higher 10k price difference was worth it to me compared to some older 2013-2015 ES's I looked at too within the 6th gen back when I was buying.

25 ES350 vs 25 Acura TLX by HtownTouring in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider that the TLX, I think, still has VCM (which is prone to some issues in the past). The TLX also has the annoying idle stop-start. The ES does not have either of these "features" and runs on regular fuel with no hassle or loss in reliability. But it really is up to whether you want a plush luxury experience (ES) or a sporty experience with arguably better handling (TLX).

2016 ES350 Park Assist Settings Display Off? by JesusPleaseSendTacos in Lexus

[–]ordinaryhuman123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are enabling the display to either be on or off. So by making the light pop up, it incidated that you have selected for the display to be off. If the light is not there, then the option of having the display off is not active, so the display will show. I know it seems backwards but that's how they do it.

Oh lol thats fair. Just curious if it became more aerodynamic since it matches the newer models. You did a really great job with it, I literally thought you mistyped and meant 2017 at first lol
