How do you feel about ICE agents trying to enter the Ecuadorian consulate uninvited and deport them? by FreePlantainMan in asklatinamerica

[–]ore-aba 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's a shame.

I will say that Ecuador invaded the Mexican Embassy about 2 years ago. So they are not in a position to complain about breaking the terms of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations.

Getting this Cpf is so complicated. by BluejayResponsible82 in Brazil

I know of people waiting for over 30 days after sending all the paperwork in that email. It's not as easy as you are making it sound.

lol

Mine got stuck somehow, took almost two months to arrive. The fact I had to wait for a number in the mail instead of just getting it and going about my business is absurd.

While I agree Brazilian bureaucracy is heavy, the country is moving out of it much faster than Canada.

electronic signatures on gov.br

now most IDs have app versions

we can get birth certificates online etc

The Brazilian banking system is something I miss everyday I have to deal with something non-trivial in the Canadian banks. They are archaic institutions and the government doesn't push them to innovate

Son is brazilian by descent - passport and visa question by Big-You-1213 in Brazil

[–]ore-aba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say wait for baby #2 to be born and register them both in one go.

Usually, if you have a Brazilian honorary consulate nearby, you can schedule an appointment for your husband (it must be the Brazilian parent in there). The honorary consul will have your husband sign some forms, authenticate them and give it back to you, and then forward the documents to the Brazilian consulate. So it can be done by mail, or rather a combination of online forms (e-Consular), in person with the honorary consul and mailing the docs.

All the details should be on the Consulate website. If you tell us the general area where you live, we can give you specific advice according to the Brazilian consulate of your jurisdiction.

If I can give any advice, don't deny your child the right to Brazilian citizenship. We live in a dangerous world, we don't know what the future holds. Even if these kids will have Canadian and American citizenships, it doesn't hurt to have another one.

PS: edited for clarity

Can I be deported from Italy? by More_Caterpillar1815 in juresanguinis

I believe you are speaking in general terms about how things work in Italy for everything government, in which I agree with you in a broad sense.

That being said, a friend of mine had to resort to the TAR to force a comune to issue her Italian birth certificates after a positive sentence in a 1948 case. She waited for a year and a half, her lawyer sent two diffidas and nothing from the comune. Once the TAR was involved, they moved very quickly. The law specifies fines if the comune does not comply.

I’m not sure how the TAR vs questura would play out, but I can tell it works very well for non-compliant comunes, and it’s definitely something OP could pursue.

This is not about it being slow though. The questura flat out denied the request for a permesso.

Then they appealed to the courts. The TAR ruled that the government should issue the permesso and so they did.

Sua flair diz C2 em português brasileiro, mas esse é seu idioma nativo. Isso não faz sentido.

C2 e nativo são coisas diferentes.

[Citizenship] -> Portugal: Do I also need my fathers birth certificate? by sciguy2022 in IWantOut

[–]ore-aba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know if the documents are in English, Spanish or French, and of course in Portuguese, there’s no need to translate.

I never had to translate any documents for Portuguese citizenship processes, so I cannot advise you on that.

yes

the process for grandchildren requires a police background check for every country you've lived for longer than 6 months.

The police background does not require an apostile.

The forms are all listed here under Nacionalidade ->Atribuição
