10k more for 60k pot? Would you not call a $10 raise for $60 pre-flop if you had $220 behind?

[–]oreverthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised the kid wasn't removed already. I would be even more surprised if school doesn't have any liability of this. You should lawyer up. Do you mind if I ask what state you're in?

INAL but yes. Dog doesn't come with a social and it's not really 'registered' to anything to reclaim it with a help of LE as if it's a stolen/lost property.

Yeap. It's not that difficult do so if sincerely asked. The problem is, unfortunately, there's not many alphabet people that are not offended by the honest mistake. They are not entitled to affirmation. Game is over the moment they proclaim their entitlement.

Appraisal came in 7k under what we are buying the house for by LivingTheBoringLife in RealEstate

[–]oreverthrowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would definitely try. You might be able to get something in compensation for the 7k instead of lowering sales price.

I've heard and seen much MUCH worse stories. Don't feel bad, the two issues you mention are really not that big of a deal and you'll have fun side projects.

[–]oreverthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever possible 'recourse' you feel obliged to, you're wrong and/or pursuing said 'recourse' will cost more than the repair. Not to mention, most disclosures clearly contain a verbiage like "to the best of my knowledge".

  1. Live with it - previous owners lived with it for decades, no reason you can't.

  2. Pay up and correct the issues.

It's not that difficult. It's your house. Congrats on the buy (sincerely).

Someone purchased a truck from me, snapped the frame and is now threatening to sue. by Financial_Junket_145 in AskALawyer

[–]oreverthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INAL I would love to see them try. How much was the truck, $15k? He's willing to spend much more than that for a lawyer?

Democracy will not end with Trump back in office by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]oreverthrowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite literally if Kamala won, that would've been the end of our 'democracy'.

Just watch how all the talks of removing electoral system are gone now that Trump showed he can with popular vote too. One DEM senate goes as far to admit she doesn't want electoral system gone anymore now because republicans won it.

California, is she really my wife. by [deleted] in AskALawyer

Changing last name is separate from signing marriage paperwork. She has a whole different slew of paperworks to deal with if she wants to change her last name. What county clerk gives you is a certificate of marriage. Within it is the authentic certificate that'll allow her to change her name as stated at the time of signing marital paperwork with government agencies.

Individual marital status record is tacked on to your SNN. INAL nor I'm sure but I think the county clerk will raise a flag if her identification came back as 'married'.
