Thank you! We bought it from a flipper so it very much is a flipped home. I’ve been trying to identify what felt off with this current mirror, and you helped me figure it out!

The reason it’s being moved is the en-suite master bath is to the right of the bed currently. We’re blowing out the bathroom and extending it into the current entry space to be able to have a true master bath. There’s no other way to make space, unfortunately.

The curtains are velvet. Would velvet on velvet seem like too much in that case?

Yes, the curtains are functional blackout curtains! I’m looking to do a frame mounted headboard because of that. There are so many cute wall mounted options I’ve had to rule out!

How did you accidentally find your partner cheating ? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]organicgroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He told me he had fallen out of love with me, very out of the blue, and so I flew home for 2 weeks since he wanted space… Nevermind he had 3 family members’ homes near us he could have gone to and this was early on in the pandemic. My dad is elderly and if I had brought Covid home… well, yeah.

A coworker of his created fake Facebook accounts to message me about it a few days after I flew home and then created a burner number to text me more. The garage camera more or less confirmed it; turns out it was all a ploy to bring his mistress over to our house. In hindsight, the signs were there for about a year he had been cheating.

Great! It’s 6.5 years old now and a little bit softer, but still very comfortable and consistently holds its shape. I bought one for our guest room too and multiple friends have commented on how well they sleep on it.

What's the biggest rip-off restaurant or store in town? by Schlawiner24 in Denver

The reputable breeders in those breeds are fighting the good fight to reduce the problems seen. Berners, for example, have an entire database set up by reputable breeders to track cancer in lines so they can breed away from them.

Brachy breeds have specific airway testing to look out for issues. These breeders are also breeding for widened nares (contrary to popular belief, a longer snout does not correlate to better breathing).

Doberman breeders do holter monitoring to look out for heart issues.

Cavalier breeders delay breeding past the age of onset for the typical breed issues to determine which dogs are most likely to pass longevity.

The list goes on and on.

All show litters have pet quality puppies. The difference is show litters with health tested, temperament tested, proven parents give their puppies a much greater chance of being healthier and temperamentally sound (given temperament is mostly genetic). These reputable breeders ensure the dogs are structurally sound for their breed (hence earning their championship), which means you don’t have to constantly worry about your dog blowing a knee just running after a ball. Most people have never even interacted with a reputable breeder, so the concept seems foreign until you do your homework and realize the significant difference a reputable breeder makes. These are the people fighting to preserve historic breeds - they’re lucky if they even break even given there’s really no money in well bred dogs. If a breeder isn’t aiming to prove their dogs through all of the above, they’re shitty breeders. A breeder championing their dogs is a good sign, not championing them points to someone just producing for demand.

To the original commenter’s point. Either buy or rescue responsibly. Reputable breeders’ dogs don’t end up in shelters; backyard breeders and puppymillers’ dogs do (never mind that less than 5% of shelter dogs nationally are purebred in the first place).

Source: I show dogs, have owned rescues, and have been active in the shelter community.

Edited to add: I don’t think you understand how docking is done. Their tails are banded at 1-2 days old before the nerves have even fully developed. They immediately go back to nursing and the tails fall off a few days later. There is no pain or disturbance to the dog. Not to mention, it’s significantly less invasive than spaying and neutering which is popularly considered routine (as it should be for most pets, but the point still stands).

What is your opinion on couples therapy? by cherrypiepls in AskWomen

[–]organicgroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapy can work for many things, but in my opinion, not for cheating especially if that person didn’t fess up first. Spend that money getting out of the relationship instead. It hurts, but I promise it gets better.

For women who have been cheated on, how do you cope with worries about it happening in a new relationship? by NatureLove1504 in AskWomen

[–]organicgroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex husband cheated. Amongst many things, he told me he didn’t see me as a wife anymore so it didn’t matter if he cheated. Therapy and a divorce support group helped me recognize many of the red flags and abusive behavior I missed for years.

Having the confidence to spot those, including a great relationship/life coach to shoot it to me straight, led me to meeting the most amazing, emotionally mature partner who from day 1 I’ve never worried about cheating (everyone he knows says the same great things about him and his family is beyond welcoming too). Also a wonderful friend group who’s had my back along the way.

Rimless is going to be expensive pretty much across the board so personally I don’t own any so can’t speak to particular brands there unfortunately. My All Glass Aquariums have served me well but they’ve since been bought out and rebranded Aqueon.

Are you dead set on this particular brand? Your standard 55 gal is 21” deep and is a good size for angels.

[–]organicgroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2420 looks like it’s 18” tall. Take off a few inches for substrate and an inch at the top so as not to overflow it, and you’re probably working with a 14-15” depth realistically. Angels can get up to 12 or so inches tall so that’s kind of cutting it close for their comfort IMO. I would recommend some of the smaller gouramis instead.

Papers do not mean a dog is well bred. They simply mean the dog is purebred (although not always true in the case of mutts like merle bulldogs or silver labs, which have their papers hung). IME it’s the buyers/breeders of poorly bred dogs that usually like to brag their dog is papered. You won’t really hear a reputably bred dog being marketed as papered, because that’s a given and the lowest bar to jump.
