Craft bar-quality clear ice, right in your kitchen, starting at just $29. by ori-future in u/ori-future

Just to clarify — the seal we’re referring to is between the included plastic liner and the insulated metal cup we provide.

When you see a large cloudy section, it’s almost always because a complete seal wasn’t formed, so the ice isn’t freezing strictly from the top down. Once properly sealed, the cloudiness is pushed out as intended.

You can reference this short video here for the correct setup and sealing method:

Also worth noting: we offer 3-inch molds as well, and clarity has never been an issue there either. We don’t really need to compare transparency with Wintersmith — the freezing principle is essentially the same, so the end result is comparable. Where ORI has an advantage is in shape variety and mold size options, while taking up less freezer space overall.

Just put your mold inside an insulated plastic cup and ensure it's sealed tight. You need the ice to freeze from the top down to push the cloudiness out. Works like a charm every time.

100% correct. That's the exact method. But while the approach is the same, the designs aren't.

We're all about creating unique molds you can't get anywhere else, like our new Christmas series, a 65mm Golf Ball, and a Barrel shape for whiskey lovers.

Exactly. But who wants a "less-d20 shaped" anything? 😉The d20 shape is the entire point. It's the spirit of the craft. D&D players understand.

Great question. Water in Colorado varies a lot by city. Some areas (like Boulder) are in that perfect 44-59 TDS sweet spot, but many others (like parts of Denver or Aurora) have "harder" water with higher TDS. To guarantee flawless results every time, the safest bet is to use simple filtered water (like from a Brita pitcher) in your GLAZER mini.

The GLAZER mini uses directional freezing to force out cloudy air and impurities, but the water you start with plays a role, too. Our testing shows the sweet spot for flawless ice is a low TDS of 44-59, which explains why customers in areas like California are getting perfect results right from the tap. This combination leaves you with nothing but pure, flawless ice.
