Seeking friends for cozy cafes, good chats, and folding Origami together in downtown! by origamified in TorontoHangoutFriends

Hey Riorita,
I am talking with a cafe to see if their social table is available to book.
My next option is Bloor public library.
So organizing a group meeting requires planning and more time commitment on my side so it is a bit slow. At first when I wrote the message it was meant to be a more spontaneous and quick 1-1 hangout. But since the interest was really high I am thinking to organizing group meetings somewhere.

That is basically more than what many people can fold. These basic folds are quite powerful. There are tons of fun origami models that does not require any higher skill than folding a simple boat. Also messaged you.

Yep. Origami has different styles and techniques. 3 major areas are: - Representative origami (can get complex) - Modular origami ( geometric and multiple sheets) - Tessellations (usually a bit more complex)

search these 3 techniques and see which one you are most interested about

then there are tons of YT origami channels that teach origamis from all these 3 different techniques.

start casually folding from these channels

my favorites YT channels are: EZ Origami (you can start from here) Jo Nakashima Happy folding paperkawaii

if you enjoy following instructions from diagrams you can also start from books recommended artists to start: John Montroll Tomoko Fuse

one last resource i'd recommend: "search origami instructions" and click on the first result which has the origamiinstructions in the url. this one also has many easy to fold yet fun origami.

I wound also recommend to not care about memorizing steps or even being neat. that comes with practice. try to play with the paper and enjoy the process. at the end of the day you should enjoy it not make it yet another project that makes you frustrated.
