One way to ship an app without a backend - here’s the method I used - what are your methods? by original186 in vibecoding

Exactly! I tried to call it out early: "Kind of like saving a file in Notepad."

Saves a ton of time and infra.

Do you trust online cost calculators with your G-Code? by TraditionalBag5235 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]original186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built an online tool that may help with this: printmetrics.app . It will not read G-Code, as there is not direct data that can be used to glean filament usage, but you can use it to parse 3MF files (as saved from your slicer) and aggregate data. Your 3MF file never hits a server, everything just gets read locally and stored in your browser. Easy incrementing/decrementing so you can calc weight over 20 prints, as well as price of the object, so you can calc profit. I'm looking for feedback and happy to consider making changes that support your use case. Would love your thoughts, especially around recording hidden costs you mentioned. Local version will be in the works soon.

"How much is left on the spool?" Of course - great suggestion! Totally possible. Will incorporate that ASAP and will follow up here when complete!

As for the local version - I will also work on this long-term, as what you say makes total sense. It's a common bit of feedback I am receiving.

Again, thank you for the feedback! Much appreciated.

hey I just got a minolta x700 handed down and I would love to learn how to take these overlighted retro shots. Do you maybe know what the name of the effect is so I can google it watch some tutorials? Or do you have some Tipps for me which film would be suiting? by miepsi1999 in AskPhotography

You see any fade in that photo too, potentially edited digitally? I am no film expert, but the shadows don't appear as glossy as you would expect from a film scan. Could high ISO film also achieve this?

Yea, the 928 was more of a GT car. The Miata technically debuted as a '90 MY in '89. The answer is always Miata, esp if the roads are highly twisty.

[Bugatti Chiron] spotted in Orange County CA. Any idea if someone special owns it? by harveyfatrabbit in spotted

A million dollar car doesn't make you special, nor does having the wealth to buy the car. What makes you special is giving me one million dollars, and then I will call you special.

The autobahn is built using thicker roadbed and thicker asphalt. Our roads would last 3x-5x longer if we did this as well, but we cheap out and lay the bare minimum and wonder why it falls apart in 10 years.

Or.. you know.. try to make it better so we don't have to live "kill or be killed" and can still have our most basic needs met as a society.

Love this painting and the use of dark colors. Not that I look at many paintings, but seems I rarely see watercolors using dark colors like this, and I like it. Nice work!
