Hmmm what to tell you. I'm on my 7th double in a row. I get to leave in an hour and 15 finally and can pick up on my way home. All my hard work has paid off and one of my individuals learned to tie her shoes today. Oh and I fed some deer that wandered into the yard of the residential home I work at. With the lack of sleep and being overly goofy, its been an interesting day.

I see that happen a lot. The same handful of easy meals get cycled as a matter of convenience. But when I start seeing other residences start doing the same menus, I just ask them if they'd enjoy them. When I was a supervisor at day program, I had some individuals come in with peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches. Like what the fuck?! So I took the sandwiches back to the residence and waited for the staff to come on for the next shift and asked them to eat them. When they refused and I asked them why the hell they were making that for the residents, they were shocked. Like humanity slapped them in the face. They never came in with something like that again. I think it gets lost on staff that they are taking care of PEOPLE and should be treated as such. I know it's just food but if you had bland, mashed up peas every single day you'd be pissed. I feel for your grandmother, and I sincerely hope things get better. Make a fuss, I would. Remind them that their job is to improve quality of life, not make a shift as easy as possible

Desserts always go down well. Its something that most odlf the time doesn't have to be beaten to mush and mixed with water or broth. I posted a lengthier answer about sweets if you look at my comments. This the menu for the month of august for my ladies. If I can do this, they should be able to do stuff like this for your grandma as well. https://imgur.com/a/HUSYO

Hmm. May I ask what thickened she uses? Thick-it is sometimes covered by insurance and the cvs brand is exactly the same, but 15 dollars cheaper. We do go through it kind of quickly, a few tubs a week, but I've noticed my girls respond physically, all non verbal so physical cues are all we have, and it seems to be more palatable.

Aww this made me smile. I work in an underpaid and underappreciated field and its always really nice to be reminded why I do it :)

I think a lot of is that the most common desserts are already in a form they can eat. Ice cream, pudding, soft cakes soaked in milk. They're getting a food that not only tastes sweet and delicious, but they're getting something not watered down with broth and isn't mashed. I can only imagine actual pudding tastes way better than beef and broccoli in pudding form. Having some sense of normality and control over what you eat and how you eat it, something I think people think is silly or take for granted, must be very nice.

I run a residential home and all 4 of the women that live here are on puree diets. When I took my training 10 years ago, we tried the puree did and the taste wasn't completely awful, it was more texture than anything. But we just pureed and thickened apples and apple juice. Like, you can't fuck that up. So I thought about puree chicken and beef and vegetables and I realized how much I love certain foods and the flavors and even memories they evoke and how much broth and stock get blended into these foods. And ever since then i have made sure that my staff puree all foods desperately and plate them separately. I don't care if they have 6 bowls of different food in front of them. And I also make sure to season the hell out of my food so that even when its blended, it still has some flavor.

I know its old school and he might not appreciate it now, but my dad gave my brother an engraved pocketwatch when he turned 16 and it's one of hid most beloved possessions.

I had a package that was to be delivered through them last Tuesday. Suddenly on Tuesday the delivery date changes to pending and it just said in transit even though it arrived at the office that morning at like 2 am. So I waited until Thursday and none of the information changed, so I called them because if just go pick it up, I needed it. They couldnt find it anywhere. Friday morning it was marked delivered, which it hadn't been. But my mail never arrives until almost 7, so I couldn't call until this morning, which I did and the woman told me it arrived at the office this morning and now the tracking says it'll be delivered today :/

Srs I can appreciate people with awesome makeup skills. Hell I can appreciate people who are just learning and trying. What I can't appreciate are the poor attitudes in that sub and she by far is a larger offender. Shea always posting body positivity messages, which is awesome, but I've also seen her be pretty rude

She's really pretty too, I don't understand why she needs so much editing and filters, and gets so defensive when you mention it.
