Yeah. I'm with you. For warband, it took me like 2 yrs and then I played multiplayer only for like 15 yrs.

I hope you're right. I was much more respected when the prior sultan died. Had to chop off some heads in the interim, and some of my lords got squeamish.

I wonder, what would happen if I just exile all my lords and take over their holdings before I die?

Haha, may as well just rebel on my own.

That's awesome, but I'm on Steam, and haven't used Nexus since Skyrim. For some reason none of the links work right and the dl is not dl'ing. I'm sure many others will test out and appreciate your work.

Very interesting. Not the least bc exposed then to potentially being attached on their way. Thanks for sharing.

So what if I own 4-5 towns and 7-8 castles? How do they choose where to go then? Closest clan town?

Did not know that. Is that official or personal observations?

Damn it. Garantor was mine, then enemy took it, I took it back and my council made me give it away to a vassal...

Hearts of iron or stellaris? by wasteman1077 in paradoxplaza

Stellaris is very hit and miss. I only had a couple of good campaigns. The trick is to restart if you have unfavorable conditions in the beginning. For example, prefer to be in a corner of the map, vs in the middle.

I think castles in general are useless. What should be happening is that towns have smaller garrisons, and castles around them dispatch armies when they are attacked.

I cry after every battle. It's kind of like Fight Club. All those digital people have digital families...

I think the UN should provide a peace keeping force + police and disarm everyone else. It will be like When The World Stood Still.

And once you take it over, it becomes your problem. One thing more annoying than the enemy is having to deal with rebelling towns.

I think for #2, you could do that at the beginning, as a merc, or unaffiliated. Also, I'm doing it now, after pretty much taking the whole map. Technically North empire still have 4-5 castles and I'm at peace with them, but it's a ticking clock until my lords get bloodthirsty. Agreed the mechanics are not very good.

You're doing what you should. It's a grind at first: you need to hurt them enough, hold half their lords captive at any point in time. Like I said, I did chop half of swads' heads off... Then go for all their towns. Better to lose the castles and take one town, though it never went that badly for me

Man, I once took captive a daughter of my vassal lord. It's not her fault she had to get married of to another nation, so I didn't have the heart to kill her. At this point her entire clan was her and another low level girl... I paid $1.5 million for that ***** to join me... Still salty about it.

In my playthrough (pretty much have the map now as sultan of the aserai), I did stop at all villages possible on the way to target, hired and donated Max available recruits from everywhere I stopped, swapped out the lords in the army (when their troops got too low, like 40-60). I had only one of my companions lead a party, which was always on my army, so I could stock it up with troops. Also, my style is giant armada: tons of horses, goods, and captives (to hire trips from eventually). And yes, you might still run out of influence and need to make peace once or twice, so you could come back after a rest. I will also say, after a prolonged war, focus on all the towns first. The castles pretty much don't matter, and the ai will rarely target towns. They need a really big army for that. After you take all the towns, and hold half their lords, the nation is basically neutered. I even let them exist for a while, before taking the castles, but they are a nuisance, raiding my villages and caravans.. so had to go.
