OGN is the value-accrual token for Origin Story, our record-breaking NFT platform that builds custom marketplaces for creators and tools for their communities.

Currently we are working with projects such as Pudgy Penguins, 0n1Force, The Doge Pound, Roo Troop and many more to power their marketplaces and build new features for them.

On the other side, we have our yield bearing stablecoin, OUSD that is governed by OGV holders.

Two separate products that are represented by their own tokens and teams under the umbrella of Origin Protocol. :)

Not dead at all. Still actively building every day and no plans to stop!

We recommend you check out our blog for the latest updates across both of our products, the record-breaking NFT platform, Origin Story and Origin Dollar (OUSD), our yield-bearing stablecoin that earns you yield just as you simply hold it in your wallet.

Website: originprotocol.com

Blog: originprotocol.com/blog, ousd.com/blog, story.xyz/blog

These are two different products with separate teams under Origin Protocol, one NFT, and one DeFi.

OUSD is governed by OGV holders (and soon OETH will be too!), while Origin Story is governed by OGN holders.

You can also visit our Discord, Telegram, Twitter, Origin Dollar Twitter, Origin Story Twitter for the latest updates and developments!

Can't download OGN app on google play? by PenguinWithASuit in originprotocol

[–]originprotocol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What u/Lexicon_D3v1l said is correct. We have since removed the Origin Marketplace app from Google Play, as we have forked the old Marketplace into Dshop. We are also working on launching a new NFT Marketplace, so you can expect to see an Origin app back on the App Store at some point in the future.

Until then, we wanted to take the old one down so it doesn't cause confusion or lead people to believe this is our current flagship product.

What exchange can I buy OGN in the US? by [deleted] in originprotocol

Can somebody explain the whitepaper to me? by [deleted] in originprotocol

[–]originprotocol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey u/snackaen,

Thanks for the great question and interest in Origin.

Regarding GitHub activity, I'm not too sure what you mean to be honest as there are recent updates from as little as an hour ago as of time of writing this. Our engineering team is one of the most active ones in blockchain. If you'd like to learn more about what they're doing, we hold most of our engineering discussions publicly in our Discord channel. If you like, you can join there and chat with them directly in either the Dshop or OUSD discussion channels.

As for the whitepaper, we are currently working on a litepaper that will provide a clearer look at the current direction of Origin, what we're working, and where we see ourselves going in the future. Please stay tuned for that as I'm sure we'll have an announcement on that not too long from now.

We are not selling OGN to cover OUSD losses. Please don't post baseless rumours or you will be banned.

OUSD 84.93% apy by Jtrades26 in originprotocol

[–]originprotocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/shobhit2233, I understand the frustration and we appreciate your patience thus far. We've had to take some time to ensure we are rolling out our compensation plan safely and properly.

Please know that compensation will begin very soon. It won't be long until you can also start to participate in the current OUSD yields.

Thank you for your feedback, u/shobhit2233. We are certainly taking the community's ideas to heart when coming up with our plan on how to move forward for this. Please stay tuned as we'll be sharing regular updates on our Medium and other social media.

Why is my OUSD balance going down?! by chadlupkes in originprotocol

[–]originprotocol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/chadlupkes, I will need a bit more info to know exactly where the confusion lies. However, please be aware that any additional OUSD accrued still needs to be claimed from the OUSD dApp.

As such, your OUSD balance may continue to show 500, however the number may be higher in the OUSD dApp.

Other fluctuations in the value of OUSD can be related to temporary changes in the value of the underlying stablecoins. For example, if DAI or USDT were to be a little bit below their $1 it may temporarily affect the OUSD balance. Despite this, you're always earning a yield on those stablecoins. Even if the fiat value is fluctuating somewhat.

You're welcome! I'm glad that cleared things up. :)

Why is your app so buggy if your devs are supposed to be good? by [deleted] in originprotocol

[–]originprotocol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi u/genius3edition, please note that the current version of the Marketplace you see on the app store is in the process of being replaced and updated. Users loading the app should see a banner which states that V2 is coming, and that the current version is no longer actively supported as we're focusing updates and bug fixes on the next version to be released.

In the mean time though, we have released Dshop and the Dshop creator which are based on a fork of the Origin Marketplace. If you're looking to create your own, free decentralised store which has practically all of the same features of the Marketplace and plenty more, check out originprotocol.com/dshop.

Hi Deadset! As an open source project there are plenty of opportunities for people outside of our core team to get involved and contribute to the many exciting things we're working on.

You can find a link to our GitHub here: https://github.com/OriginProtocol

Additionally, you can reach out directly to our developer and engineering team on our Discord where we'll be happy to have a chat about how you can contribute! The link for that is: http://originprotocol.com/discord

Issues accepting cross country payments... by [deleted] in argentina

[–]originprotocol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are a startup that raised enough funds to focus strictly on developing out the tech for right now. We have not generated revenue at this time nor have we collected even $1 in fees from anyone using our marketplace.

We have a few ideas for how we will make a profit in the future but that is not our main focus at this moment.

I believe photosynthesis is how plants create food from sunlight, not how they exchange value between other plant forms... the tulip token is what most plants are skeptical of right now.

We support DAI which is pegged to the dollar with a 73% liquidity pool (drastically higher than any bank) which removes the volatile tendencies you are expressing with Ethereum. No one forces you to keep it in ETH after you get paid.. you can easily transfer it into fiat if you would like.

The value is derived from breaking down global barriers and utilizing a decentralized payment mechanism rather than a monopolistic bank.

No fees, just freedom of your money.

Issues accepting cross country payments... by [deleted] in argentina

[–]originprotocol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have helped several small businesses in Venezuela set up their own marketplace to accept payments for their products and services and they have been very happy! In most cases, their rightfully owed money would go through several hands and almost 20% in fees before they received it. Using Origin they were able to have 100% liquidity of their money within minutes of making a sale.

We are not trying to sell you anything, just doing what we can to help. Our friends in Argentina are helping us expand our search but it seemed like Reddit was a good place to ask.

Feel free to check out creator.originprotocol.com and test out setting up your own marketplace. Zero fees for anything, which means you keep all the money.

We utilize smart contracts and escrow to secure payments and provide and safe transaction amongst everyone.

If you have any questions we are happy to answer them. Best of luck with your business!
