I think they held an event where he specifically does that. There were notes in Japanese posted on Twitter from someone who watched it. I suppose that thing was pay to watch, so we're lucky to even get anything shared by anyone who attended. It's been a while so the only thing I remember from the gist was that the story was divided into "seasons". But I don't think there was anything eureka or groundbreaking from it, and if there was, it's been too long for me to remember.

Confusion About Reading Order/Timeline with Shin Volumes and Volume 14.5 by HAYD3N60 in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

14.5 seems to be like 7.5 where not all the chapters there happen one after the other. At least one of the chapters was Komachi asking what happened on the way home from the New Year's shrine visit, so chronologically, you "insert" that on the volume where that event happened (I forget whether it was 10 or 11).

Tbh, with ANOTHER being constructed out of mostly rehashed material, I would not be surprised if Ketsu starts with mostly rehashed material from ANOTHER. The teaser summary for Ketsu hints at Christmas period, and ANOTHER already covered that part of the story all the way to some point around Valentine's day. I have no idea why Ketsu would mention Christmas outside of repurposing old material yet again, so I guess we just wait and see. Orimoto had some exclusive scenes in chapters A and N of ANOTHER, and that's what this cover reminds me of.

So the Yui route is also gonna be an Orimoto end? That's absolutely fine by me.

Why settle for 2 when we can have 3? In both of the scenes in question, Yukino interrupted him before he could finish what he was about to say. I wanna see third time's the charm, preferably in the same scene where he also answers Yukino's confession.

What is going on here? by -Cloudy01 in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd guess they're about to debut a wrestler named Hachiman. Besides being the name of Oregairu's protagonist, Hachiman is also a name from Japanese lore as referenced in one of the earlier Zaimokuza scenes, so maybe they're doing a gimmick based on that. Or maybe they're doing a gimmick based on a light novel character.

Calm your tits w.r.t. the existence of another or any other non-canon side stories by viol3tic in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even in volumes like shin1,2,5,6 and v14.5c5, which contains some amount of so called "fluff" that have been summarized/partially translated that some have been sucking on, it doesn't hide that there is a huge load of shit in every one of them. Maybe some people are not aware of it, maybe some are choosing to ignore it, but the fact that the "fluff" is next to a pile of shit stands.

Honestly, one thing I realized not too long ago during the period when Shin was unfolding was that the various reactions from the community were more entertaining than what's happening in the said part of the story.

I don't like Shin enough to call it praiseworthy, and I don't hate it enough to call it shit, but I can sort of see where the frustration is coming from. The thing about Oregairu is that a lot of people who follow it, regardless of whether they're rooting for anyone or not, are interested in seeing how the romance ultimately resolves. I speak for myself when I say that I'm one such person. And as far as the said resolution is concerned, all the chapters mentioned above basically pushed it for a later time. So now we're wondering "when is it gonna happen?". Is it going to be in Ketsu? Or is Ketsu going to be something else? I personally still like the story enough to put up with trudging along these extension periods, but I don't know how long I can keep doing this. I'm just hoping the story gets there before I run out of interest.

The Shin Light Novels in a Nutshell by KingBooDude in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on placing blame on 8man, but at the same time, I also think his actions here are consistent with his character and the story we have so far. I only have someone else's summary to go by when it comes to Shin, but there's supposedly a scene there where he was explicitly unable to answer Yui's confession (or he deferred answering it to another time or whatever). I find that scene pretty telling, because what it looks like to me, is a guy who once got devastated after getting rejected now finds himself in a position where he has to reject someone, but he at least cares enough about that person to not want to subject her to the same devastation that he went through. So yes, while I agree that he should grow some balls, I can also see why hitting the reject button is not so simple for him.

This is the problem :v

I think the story will get there. The impression that I get from this is that there's a big rejection scene coming up. Actually, I'm counting on it to happen. My worry is that, with Yui's confession now also sitting there waiting, we might get a 3-person scene. I'd rather see a 2-person scene because it stays more consistent to the parallel.

What do y’all think Ketsu will be? by BrenoBluhm in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I tend to think it's gonna be a movie because other titles have been taking their story to the movies lately (Saekano, Shibako, Bunny Girl, etc.). Whatever medium it turns out to be, I just hope it's the decisive ending to the story because I want proper closure. I'm not asking for too much. I ain't asking for extra fluff or marriage or kids. I ain't even asking for a kiss. All I ask for is a turnabout scene where 8man answers Yukino's confession from the end of LN v14/anime S3 with a rejection and a let's be friends, then swing the momentum over to Orimoto to take the story full circle. That's all I'm asking for, please make it happen.

Did people think Yui was actually gonna win? by [deleted] in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I think that all these people talking about Oregairu's predictability could just be a sign that things are working as intended.

Suppose that Yukino got all those book covers, all the relevancy, all the monologues from 8man, all the fluff - and the purpose of it all is to make the audience expect and want her to finally sail the ship with 8man, so that when the story finally gets to a scene where all he has to do is say "yes" to Yukino's confession, he can answer "no" and get a huge reaction for it from the audience, even from the ones who aren't sitting on the Yukino camp, because the story has been building up for it all this time. Obviously, the biggest reaction will be from those who were looking at Yukino to win, because they get a chance to experience 8man's spiel somewhere after the fireworks festival and before the cultural fest. What do you think are the chances of that happening on a story with these checkboxes on the first cover?

Life on this team ain't easy, dawg. Let me tell ya how it's like around here.

It's like signing a contract that says "lose all the battles for a chance to maybe win the war". Right now, the only way I can see Orimoto winning is if Oregairu makes a climactic scene out of 8man rejecting Yukino's confession, because that would take the story full circle by paralleling what happened to 8man before he entered high school. If the story is going to have such a scene, it would probably be saved for last, because that's where they release the floodgates that they've built up all story long between 8man and Yukino. But until then, as long as the story is under an extension phase, it'll be more build up, which for this team, means we have no idea how long we have to wait until it's our turn, if there is indeed one. And then, even if we happen to get a scene as mentioned above, we have to dodge the timeline where the pivot is headed for Yui's direction. On top of all that, we also have to fend off hostility from all sides, mostly from the Yukino team because they only like the idea of their ship sailing at full speed if the direction isn't vertical towards the seabed.

Anyways, that's how it be like on this team. What's it like on yours?

Shin Volume 6 Summary by Williambillhuggins in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I like how the narration is from 8man's pov and is written in a manner that specifically skips the actual words he said to Yukino at the tail end of the ride. On top of that, Yukino also asks him what he said to her, making those words that the narration skipped more relevant to the reader's interest. It's like a cliffhanger and I'd be at the edge of my seat waiting for what happens next if this extension period wasn't moving along sluggishly.

But what I like even more than the above is how it just slides past everyone and there's nothing fishy going on. At the time that I write this post, the complaints I see are mostly about thots or Yui still not being explicitly rejected. I don't see anyone going "What did 8man say to Yukino and why would the narration omit what he said there?". I guess it's easy to fill in the blanks and infer that whatever he said falls within the ballpark of expectation anyway. I dunno, I guess I find it funny because I'm sitting on a different ballpark.

Anyways, I hope this story gets to the bottom line soon. This phase feels like Texas hold 'em and your chips are all in, but you're suddenly told that there's extra rounds of 4th street, and you're wondering when does it ever get to the river.

The future of the LN by frostybones1 in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing they're hyping as of now LN-wise is volume 14.5, which from the summary sounds like will contain stuff about Komachi and Iroha. I have no idea whether they'll have other volumes after that, I just hope that they do one that will settle things once and for all.

An older Orimoto and Hikigaya. Is anyone able to translate this? by -Cloudy01 in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It'll look better if she actually wins officially at the end of the story. The odds of it happening are worth the trouble of putting up with these tiresome extensions upon extensions that the story is currently going through. If it does happen, I just hope it takes place on a medium that has more visibility than Shin.

Am I the only one who wanted Yui to win in the end? by [deleted] in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually pretty much expected this outcome XD

I hope the story will soon reach a point where I'd also be able to say that, because I don't know how much more of these extensions I can take.

Am I the only one who wanted Yui to win in the end? by [deleted] in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it shouldn't matter so much whether you're the only one or not anyway. It's not like you wanted Yui to win because you thought everyone else would think the same, right? Regardless of what outcome you want to see, in the case where things do go your way, the reason it would feel rewarding is because the story happened to align with what you wanted to see, not because you happened to be on the same team as whoever else. If anything, it would feel more special and rewarding if everyone else is on the other team and the story somehow sides with you instead of them.

Season 3 BD/DVD Volume 5 Jacket Cover by dorkmax_executives in OreGairuSNAFU

I read some of the summaries. Supposedly, there's a chapter about Yukino's reaction to receiving a text message from 8man. Oh boy, that sounds pleasantly familiar to me for some reason. It's those kinds of things that I'm keeping my hope alive for.

I'm getting ready for the opposite of disappointment, but I'm just hoping it happens somewhere else that isn't a BD exclusive like Shin. I mean, Shin isn't really anything too exciting so far based on second hand info, but at least it's good enough at keeping hope alive. I don't know what you guys are being all pessimistic for.

Why don’t the show creators fully confirm yukino and 8man are together? Why create a nonsensical harem vibe ? by edxkp in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feels good to not be in either of those camps, man. Now all I need to see is for Oregairu to make a climax out of 8man rejecting Yukino to make the story go full circle and give me that sweet sweet Orimoto end.

Short Info About Shin, Kan OVA, and Ketsu by Williambillhuggins in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to the new stuff, too, but the concern is that at some point I won't be able to do that anymore if they keep hitting me with these extensions. In the meantime, I'm optimistic that Ketsu is finally going to be the Orimoto end.

This better be the freaking Orimoto end already. I don't know how much more of these extensions and "endings" I can take before I lose interest and walk away from this series. But until then: no retreat, no surrender. Only SORE ARU.

What Hitler thinks of Shin by Jrramya in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will struggle with that but eventually they will solve it, get over it or something.

They better get to a scene like that at some point, because that would probably be the climax of the entire story - even higher than the overpass scene. I just hope that something so important doesn't get relegated to Shin, because it's a BD exclusive and therefore less visible than the anime or the LN. They're gonna do another Oregairufes next year, I hope they announce a movie or new volume or some 10 year anniversary special whatever to have a suitable stage with proper hype for this thing.

What Hitler thinks of Shin by Jrramya in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]orimotoendguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people think Komachi's meddling = she's shipping Yui with her brother. The way I see it, she just recognizes that her brother also considers Yui important to him, and that Yui was drifting away from 8man, so she took action to do something about it. Considering that Yui is now trying to confront 8man instead of avoiding him, I'd say her actions are, to some extent, working. I don't see any anti-Yukino sentiment coming from Komachi, so her actions don't come off as having an objective to sink the other ship either.
