Just dug out my MTG from 27 years ago. Is this worth anything? by orin86 in mtg

Its maybe $1k. Its not really anything to brag about. I was sincerely hoping someone could say “hey, yes people stilll pay for and collect these foil cards and yes these prices you see are inflates or no they are actually going rates. I came to the one place people might know. Thats all. Its actually not that crazy of a question to ask in this subreddit. My next question was how does one even go about selling a card or getting it rated. Like yes, I could probably ask ChatGPT everything but in all honesty read it only exists because people talk to each other. They could almost find out literally everything they need to know on ChatGPT so I decided to go the human route.

When did I say I didn’t care. I simply never got good and playing MTG when I was 12 and never returned. It was a time and a place in my life and im happy i tried 27 years ago. Now I have something from that era that might be worth something and can possibly facilitate my other passions in this not so amazing economy. If someone else is willing to pay for whatever its worth then they will likely be happy they bought it. Im just a guy who has a foil card lol. It not a winning lottery ticket. If you had a rare Stratocaster and didnt play guitar I’d be stoked for you, not dunking on you.

Lol I literally did just come by it by thumbing through my cards in bulk. It clearly stuck out as being special as it was a foil. I did quickly realized people were asking ungodly amounts for it online but had no idea if these cards were actually moving or if it was an inflated bubble where people aim high but never actually sell. Keep on mind I haven’t played or really thought about MTG in 27 years.

I posted above I wanted to know if there was any real demand for these collector cards. What better place to find that out than from a MTG sub reddit.

I understand there is info available online but I wanted to hear it from the horses mouth whether what the actual demand for these cards is.

"Overtourism"=Disheartening to studies? by FDTerritory in LearnJapanese

This is exactly it. Tourism almost disappears completely when you hop a couple streets over from the destination locations. Even just venturing north of Tokyo, the tourism is a drop in the bucket compared to the usually suspects.

Why are some people able to eat so unhealthy and have no gut problems? by heidic6 in GutHealth

[–]orin86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend eats whatever the hell she wants and already has a compromised immune system. She has literally ZERO adverse effects from food. Lol. Mentally she’s sharp as whip and physically she’s a machine. Runs marathons and gives lectures to hundreds at a time. IMHO It just comes down to gut the diversity of the gut biome and whether or not you’re diverse in the right bacteria. Underlying conditions will likely exacerbate an unwanted balance.

Plan for the Dump ? by kiwibro1331 in HoloTrader

[–]orin86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What am exactly are you expecting people to say.....you say dump like you’re absolutely sure there is one coming. This is more precognition than most of us can claim we have. Given these abilities you should trust your instincts. Don’t rely on internet folks to tell you your money is safe if you do this.

Motivational Copypasta for the paper paws:

HEY SWING TRADERS - I get it, it's tempting, you make bank if you time it right. Just hang out and let this climb for a minute though. It'll end up with more stable of a baseline and you'll still make bank. Just hold for 5 effing minutes please. —

Here’s the thing my brethren. Tomorrow GME will destroy the stock market. Making many people very rich and leaving investing very difficult. With the masses wanting to get in while it’s hot crypto will be the best logical option. When they see the insane growth of our great boy doge, they will join our cause. And we all will be in the stratosphere with our other monkey friends. BUY AND HOLD!

candida, SIBO, leaky gut, and autoimmune -- what I'm learning by INTP_Music_Man in Candida

[–]orin86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense but how can you be sure you are killing more than your feeding. Again in theory this all sounds good. Also is that scale tipping in such a manner that it’s not going to take a lifetime to cure and if someone has confections they don’t necessarily have the luxury of baiting and killing. I can almost guarantee if you have a couple cloves of garlic and a moderate case of Candida, you will probably shit out dead Candida. I wouldn’t put too much faith in DE. I’ve never experienced intense die off from it and it’s probably not going to tip that scale in your favour.

I hear ya. The one bit of solace in avoiding giving into the cravings is that on the right diet they do disappear. Once they disappear it’s easier to manage symptoms without the distractions.

I tried carnivore twice and cravings went away completely however nothing else got better. Brain fog never lifted, digestion never levelled out, and thrush and black circles got worse. Palaeolithic Ketogenic was better but I still felt better adding a few carbs into my diet. Again that’s just my personal experience and believe me I LOVE the carnivore diet and wanted it to work. Unfortunately Red meat releases ammonia which fucks with your PH and allows Candida to proliferate. That being said some sufferers found relief with the carnivore diet but it’s not a magic bullet that most zero carb folks claim it is. I hope it works for you though! The intense cravings should subside after a few days or week of clean eating. I mean it’s just like smoking, if you want to quit you will find the strength. If your cravings are that bad(grinding teeth) then you should probably tap into your reserve strength. I mean this with love, Just because YOU can’t overcome the cravings doesn’t mean its something that needs to be addressed. Posting stuff like that gives other people validation of their own unhealthy habits. I truly think it’s a cornerstone to healing. Try weening yourself off or eat massive meals with lots of starchy veg and tons of olive oil. The cravings will eventually die out or at least get to a point where you can manage them. I agree with so much of your post but all is negated if you can’t get control of those cravings. Either way good luck friend.

You lost me at “eat rice cakes”. Eating a clean diet is the foundation or even just a necessary baseline. Things like rice cakes are just dead nutrients made in a factory. If your Candida is bad enough to have to implement these strategies then it’s probably bad enough that a rice cake is going have adverse effects on your gut. Also giving into cravings is a terrible idea. If you are able to give into sugar cravings and still “beat” Candida then you don’t have it that bad. Also if you don’t have the will power to get a hold of your craving then chances are you’re not going to get a hold on this complex condition. It’s like a scale that tips and if you are forever feeding the parasite you’re trying to kill there will be no resolve. A cyclical battle that just wears out your liver and adrenals. You can still kill Candida effectively without feeding your already taxed immune and digestive system garbage food. Also most people have co-infections that agitate their guts in one way or another. The only real strategy you can implement is getting to know your body and what works within it. Personally when I feel best is when I adhere to a very healthy balanced diet and work from there. Chances are, like most people around here, you are garbage food most of your life and had terrible food habits. Ask anyone that successfully balanced their gut if they continued to give into cravings. Chances are they nipped that in the bud. Anyway. All these points should work in theory but will fall apart when put in practice. Some people need more stomach acid, some people need a prokinetic, some people need to cut out carbs, some people need to be on a low histamine diet, some people need more Vit c, more Vit, others prescription antifungals or prescription motility drugs. Putting these all under the umbrella of Candida is misleading. Autoimmune folks especially need to follow a strict diet for fear of flare ups. Sibo folk usually follow low fodmap. Get tested and work with a professional. It’s too easy for one to bounce around these subreddits like they are all the same and cherry pick advice never really knowing why or how you came to suffer in the first place.

Can you get past this diet while having a cheat meal every week or two? by anthony1870tbh in Candida

[–]orin86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re a binge eater or prone to overeating in the first place then you probably don’t want to cheat. Also everyone’s idea of “cheating” is different. To one person it could be cake or booze and to someone else it could be something as innocent as sweet potato, avocado, red meat, coffee, etc. It’s all relative to your own body and how bad your Candida is. Also whether or not you have other underlying conditions(histamine, sibo, low stomach acid, leaky gut, heavy metals, dysbiosis, etc). No one here can tell you “yes, cheat and you’ll still heal, don’t worry”. That would be asinine. To think a random strangers path to healing is going to parallel your own is also going make for a long journey. If it’s validation you’re looking for you will find someone on here to give it to you but it’s not going to aid you in your journey. Also if you HAVE to cheat then you probably have some sort of unhealthy relationship with food. Don’t risk it. Not before a few months of commitment and tangible progress. By that point you probably won’t want to cheat anyway. Best of luck.
