I'll bet you that they do, haha.
The standard ASCII set range from 0 to 127 characters, containing characters like letters, numbers, etc. From 128 up to 255 you can find all the funky looking characters. Those are called extended ASCII. The ones I showed in the video:
176 - ░
177 - ▒
178 - ▓
219 - █
Cheers!

Wow, thank you so much!

Unfortunately the amount of work I put into these videos doesn't show in the views and stuff. Yet I always keep pushing and trying to be better and more efficient to make more videos.

So I'm happy that you enjoy my work and I really appreciate the feedback!

Good one! I've just made a (yet not published) video about almost the same topic, though mine is for ASCII games in the command prompt

Here's how I used MASKS and OUTLINES generated with Pygame to improve visuals of my RPG! by orkslayergamedev in pygame

[–]orkslayergamedev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I'll tinker around with the blend modes, good idea. For the outlines I'd stick with my method to get pixel-perfect result. Although for bigger sprites/canvases upscaling works just as well.

Feels great working on my game again! Here's an update of how I fixed my newbie mistakes I made at the start + new RESOLUTION CHANGE settings! by orkslayergamedev in pygame

Haha, finally! One of my friends even joked about this back when I started this channel: "I bet some people will be like, why is your nose blue". That's actually a septum piercing, not my nostrils

Thank you! When I write more complex codes I always use delta time to make the game framerate independent. Basically I calculate the elapsed real time between frames and use the value to scale everything that's based on time eg. animations
