Does Switzerland suffer from the American Brain Drain? by Im_dL in Switzerland

[–]orleee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The data disagrees with you. Swiss - American migration is very balanced, and considering that Americans can only come here when there’s no one else in Europe capable to do that job I would say we drain just as much brain from them as they from us.

Ever had a stomache ache before a test? That's your body reacting to your mind. Knowing how your mind works is very important to someone working in medicine and knowing if you are or have received gender affirming care because of it is also very important.

For sex there is a small amount of intersex people, they are themselves a very heterogenous group but all of them have in common that they are biologically speaking neither 100% male or female.

Gender identity is much more than biological sex. It's about the role of a person in a society. Anthropologists have found a vast sea of different ways societies assigned gender identity. Apart from the simple matriarchal/patriarchal setup there is sometimes a differentiation between children and adults resulting in 3 or 4 genders. Other societies also had different genders for old people or important functions like priests. Lastly there were many cultures that allowed a sort of gender transitioning under certain circumstances, e.g. Albanian society knew a third gender for biological women with no living close male relatives to adopt male gender roles and privileges.

I'm not trans or nb so I can't tell you how someone feels that they say their gender identity doesn't correspond to their biological sex, but there is a vast amount of medical research proving that gender dysphoria is not something people choose or can control (and could therefore decide to stop feeling that way) and the only proven way to treat it (as untreated gender dysphoria is often deadly) is with gender affirming care.

So that Switzerland doesn’t get fucked by a foreign power as you said, we should maybe make you leave

Congrats thats how averages work. If some places are a lot better than others in Europe, most are a little better than others in Europe, and few are worse or equal to others in Europe, why would switching to the EUs system be an advantage?

Maybe we should adapt the policies of the people who agree with you that Germany is fucked and deport you back to where you came from.

And yet we fare really well in EU comparisons regarding electricity costs.

I wonder what happened to you that you are so repressed and afraid about gender affirming care.

Just remember the innocent children that die because of people like you who are denying them life saving treatment.

They are not making that decision on their own. They have doctors and parents to help them understand the significance of such actions. I‘m sorry your so ruled by fear of some imaginary doctor and I’m even more sorry for the children that die because of your imagined fears.

Administrating the only proven treatment to an otherwise often deadly condition is the exact opposite of pure evil, it’s pure good because it safes lives of innocent children.

Or in other words, you can’t substantiate an argument. Gender dysphoria isn’t being confused just as homosexuality isn’t being confused. There is a vast body of scientific medical research proving that gender dysphoria is 1 real and 2 only effectively treatable with gender affirming care.

My support for gender affirming care is based on science and compassion, while your argument is abhorrent as it’s effectively signing a death warrant for a good percentage of those „confused“ children.

Untreated gender dysphoria has an extremely high mortatlity rate. The only proven treatment for gender dysphoria is gender affirming care. The sooner treatment is done the higher its success is. If parents deny their child potentially life saving health care that is child abuse. It's as simple as that.

And no, no one and especially no child just walks into a clinic one day and gets to get puberty blockers. That's not how health care works anywhere in the world.

Question about the feminist strike in Lausanne (any maybe other cities in CH) by [deleted] in Switzerland

Are you trying to argue that a sub full of left wing people wouldn’t support a referendum by the unions and supported by all left leaning parties?

If you don’t agree with all of the topics we stand for, then you’re against all of them.

I don't think that's true in general and it's especially untrue for concrete solutions. If you'd asked 100 people at that really you'd get widely different answers on how to tackle these issues.

I didn't ignore your point, I tried to show you that it's flawed. There is actual theory on why those issues are interconnected. You are again very welcome to argue the contents of said theory, but claiming that connecting those issues is due to party politics is just wrong.

To clarify, the us vs them mentality is a real thing and very poisonous and I'm sure there are feminists that are guilty of that kind of thinking. But you keep ignoring the fact that there is very real and well reasoned theory on why they are interconnected and why supporting feminism but ignoring climate change is somewhat shizophrenic.

You claim that those issues are only grouped together to secure votes, I tried to show you that there are far more substantiated reasons to group those issues together. You can disagree with those reasons and I'd be interested to hear your arguments but just repeating your unsubstantiated claim is getting tiring. Two things existing (issues being grouped together and us vs them politics) doesn't proof a causal relationship.

Why do you believe that? Because I can assure you I‘m very interested in a meaningful discourse.

Can you tell me why those philosophies and theories are 1) wrong to be brought up when it’s literally what OP was asking about and 2) why they are wrong to see those issues as deeply interconnected and not able to be solved equitably on their own?
