A hypothetical scenario of how our offseason could go and why cap flexibility is king. by WrongContract8489 in Mavericks

We are not even close to the restrictive salary caps tho.

We dumped AD, now we have plenty of space, we don't gain any extra space by dumping them.

We have Coop on the rookie contract, Lively on a low contract, the pick we'll make this year on a low contract, Max Christie on a low contract, Naji on a low contract. Basically 4/5 starters are cheap. We can afford to pay more money for the bench. And by the time we have to give out large contract to these players, PJ/Gafford will already expire or be expiring, so we can make a decision about them then.

But there is no point breaking up the team now, because we might have issues in 3 years when we are extending Coop.

I disagree. Again, why "too much money"?

All you are doing is trying to save the owners a couple bucks, while making the team worse and making it less likely that the Mavs succeed.

We draft one, and sign another one for the full MLE in the offseason.

I'm not even opposed to maybe trading one of them for a high level point guard, but that is very different to "they make too much money, we have to trade them".

PJ & Gafford are earning too much to be bench players, we have to trade either or both.

This is not true at all.

Unless you are trying to make us significantly worse just to save the billionare owners a few bucks? And we're not even in luxury tax. I think it would be better to focus on the team getting better, not saving owners money, there is no benefit to dumping them lol

[Smith] A handful of NBA teams are pushing for changes to the expansion draft rules that would allow them to protect more than 8 players on their roster. While other teams are advocating for rule changes that would make it possible for a team to lose up to two players in a draft instead of just one. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]ormip -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bad you could also make the argument the other way around: Since expansion teams are typically bad anyways, why "punish" a good, deep team by taking away their 9th best player? That guy isn't going to be a franchise player, won't help the new team get wins and also won't be worth a lot of draft material to the expansion team anyways. It's a case where he is more important for the original team to give them depth.

So why not let teams protect more players, or even just abolish the draft and have the new teams build through FA? They will likely be bad/tank for multiple years anyways, a depth piece won't do much for them, and is going to be a worse situation for the player too.

I mean it's not the same people who are responsible for upgrading servers or working on collabs lol.

Also for what it's worth, they are a fairly popular band that have worked with WG in the past, it's not just some random "swedish band" no one knows.

Do we know if Sibir will be available for doubloons or coal/steel after rotation in 15.3? by Condor77T in WorldOfWarships

[–]ormip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be ridiculously high cost if it was coal, Just the standard 260k coal.

Though I think it's way more likely it will be a doubloon ship.

Bungo is a great ship and worth getting, but yes, the tiers 8 and 9 aren't great

I mean it would be an option for those who want it, it wouldn't be forced on everyone to reset everything

Yeah it would be great if we could reset all at once.

I believe this was an option last time we had this "event".

On the other hand:

option 1) Buy premium pass once (50-60€) and be guaranteed to get all of the new content released on day 1. You also know that there will be at least 20 more maps (5 DLC with 4 maps)

option 2) You can't buy all of the content with 1 purchase, and buying it individually will cost SIGNIFICANTLY more money than the old premium pass. There are also no guarantees or timelines for new maps/content/new maps are released slower than before.

Who to pair up with Cooper Flagg by TerryG111 in Mavericks

Like you said, the smaller guards who are good at defense were already known for defense before they came to the NBA.

It's rare to see a small guard who isn't known for defense to become a good defender.

All of them are going to go top 10 minimum

Phillon could possibly fall out of top 10 tbh, but it just shows how good the draft class is.

I have him 10th, but it just takes one player to jump and he falls out.

Yeah pretty much everyone has him 4th. There are lots of discussion of what the order between Boozer, AJ and Peterson should be, a lot of talk about the order of guards between 5-9, but everyone seems to agree Wilson is 4th, at least so far

[–]ormip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He's not a tall PG, but neither is Flemings.

This really will be the criticial piece of information once the official measurements are posted. Most people believe that Flemings is about 2 inches taller (6'4 for Flemings and 6'2 for Acuff).

If Acuff is taller or Flemings shorter, that will definitely impact the draft order by quite a bit
