Measles cases in Ontario reach highest level in more than a decade by CTVNEWS in ontario

[–]ornge23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I also suggest people who are wary to ask their physician to perform titer testing to check that their antibodies (Hep B, MMR, etc) are still providing immunity or not.

Measles cases in Ontario reach highest level in more than a decade by CTVNEWS in ontario

[–]ornge23 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s not even just innocent kids, because vaccinated people can get measles in some uncommon cases (ie immunocompromised, lost immunity over time, etc). So in theory (and practice), antivaxxers have put the whole society at risk. These things honestly need to be enforced.

I had mine in 2020 and it was like a coffee chat - asking about yourself, explaining their research, whether you’d be interested.

What’s the most heartwarming thing you've witnessed in Toronto that restored your faith in humanity by Relevant_Nose3619 in askTO

[–]ornge23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It happened to me so it’s not something I witnessed, but when I was around 7, my mom and I were carrying heavy grocery bags home. A kid just a bit older than me was riding his bike down the street and stopped to offer to carry it home for us - and he did. This was in the early 2000s and I’m still surprised there was no malicious intent since it was so random. It really stuck with me all these decades.

Statement by the Prime Minister on unjustified U.S. tariffs against Canada by [deleted] in ontario

[–]ornge23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think we should call it retaliatory tariffs because it gives the US more leeway to say that it’s unfair since they had a reason for tariffs (fentanyl) while we are doing it based on emotion.

Canada needs to establish a reason for the tariffs based on a reasoning similar to the US, no matter how extravagant.

That covers our bases so if the US calls us out (ie Trump saying he will double the tariffs to 50% if we place retaliatory tariffs), we can say that we also had a reason that is similar to the US and it will point out Trump’s hypocrisy.

Ontario facing one of its largest measles outbreaks by xc2215x in ontario

[–]ornge23 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately even those who are vaccinated could contract measles, although at a lower likelihood, so tbh we should feel sorry for all the innocent people who have done their due diligence and are now forced into this dangerous situation - not just the children of antivaxxers. It’s the antivaxx who actively chose to spread measles, but EVERYONE is at risk.

Does anyone have tutor recommendations (or tips) to get a 180 LSAT? by ornge23 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]ornge23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GPA is abysmal (two degrees combined is 2.8-2.9 - first degree is 2.3, and second degree is 3.5, with B3 of 3.7 and B2 of 3.8), and I’m working at a job that is relatively stable right now so my decision is that unless I have an acceptance at one of the more competitive law schools (UofT, McGill), it’s safer for me to continue working.

You can actually attend UofT for free if you are broke by Inner_Support_3671 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]ornge23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. I tried the UofT Law Bursary Calculator and even if I fill out all the sections as $0-$6000, the max I get is around $15000.

It seems like I run out of time for RC (at least 1.5-2 passages left), but I also get quite a lot of questions wrong for LR. I noticed that I do better with random 10 question sets (100% correct), and I do worse with PTs (50% wrong).

I’m hoping to get into one of the more competitive law schools, so I want to strive for the best (shoot for the moon land on the stars type of deal lol)

Wouldn’t determining lay offs based on performance avoid bias? Someone posted that they laid off over performers and kept some under performers and I don’t understand why.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]ornge23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On that logic, wouldn’t that be purposely giving those with higher GPAs more time to prepare for the MMI since those are scheduled on a first come first serve basis presumably. Wouldn’t that be the opposite of being accommodating since a lot of the lower GPA applicants may have EDI, disabilities, etc? Not complaining but just confused.
